  1. Thank you! ❤️
  2. I can't speak to the rejection part, but I'll add that I am on the first waitlist for poetry & they emailed last week to see who was still interested. They said that the poetry cohort is not yet full, so I speculate that they're trying to see how many from the second waitlist may or may not be needed. I'll also add that I don't see any actual rejections on the spreadsheet so who knows.
  3. Happy D-Day, y'all! 🥂 Here's to good news and bright futures no matter the outcome! xo
  4. @jinny-r @gradschoolpspspsps Congrats!!! Which genre did you get offers for? That's soooo exciting!! ❤️
  5. Honestly, I had this from multiple schools. It seems that you hear back from the program itself as well as the graduate offices. As if we needed to be told twice that we didn't get in! 😝
  6. I was wondering if with all the uncertainty that they're just taking things slowly, and possibly are going to have a smaller cohort than they anticipated so don't want to make too many offers at once. 🤷🏽‍♀️
  7. Any Pittsburgh interviewees still kicking around here? I'm wondering if anyone has any new info to share since we've seen those couple of entries on the draft spreadsheet.
  8. He's the keynote speaker and guest at the National Undergraduate Literary Conference this year where I'm doing my undergrad & presenting this year (Weber State University). He presented as a student years ago, so it's all the more amazing that he's back as the headlining guest.
  9. You guys I met the Director at Michener today and he is SUCH a genuine, humble, and brilliant human. Grats to all of you that will be going there in the fall! If I don't get in anywhere this cycle, you better believe I'll be applying there next year!
  10. I am equal parts terrified and thrilled!
  11. I saw that pop up on the spreadsheet! I'm waaaaay overthinking it! As someone who was shortlisted, I can at least share that I haven't heard any new news today.
  12. I can't speak to those other programs, but I will say that you don't likely want to put too many eggs into the Pitt basket. Things are just so uncertain there & no one even knows if they will be accepting anyone at all. (I was shortlisted for Poetry there and I'm super bummed about the situation at Pitt.) When you mention job placement, I suppose it has a lot to do with what your long-term goals are beyond the PhD. Are you hoping to teach, get into editing, etc? I would align that with their curriculum and focus. From what I understand, there is a significant difference between the pathway from MA to PhD (more straightforward) vs MFA to PhD (more nuanced, often fewer programs to choose from).
  13. Yeah, I think someone on Draft may have been interpreting Diana's email as "indefinitely," rather than her actually using that language. In the email that she sent me, it really seemed that they are in the dark just as much as everyone else. I think it's interesting that, not long after that mass email went out to applicants with the PDF letter, media sources claimed that the pause was over, when it definitely wasn't.
  14. Agreed! I didn't get an interview but it is one of my few pending applications.
  15. I was wondering the same thing! So heartbreaking! It wasn't my top choice for relocation, but I really vibed with the poetry faculty during the interview & love their work. I would have accepted the offer in a heartbeat.
  16. Yeah I was told that Phase II is more of a longlist than a shortlist--meaning that the longlist will still have Rs
  17. I emailed the Pittsburgh faculty that had interviewed me in early February. Unfortunately they had no new updates & confirmed that all of their graduate admissions are still paused. Such a bummer!
  18. If there are any other Pittsburgh interviewees on here, I emailed the poetry faculty to see if they could provide any update or information. I'll post it here as soon as I hear back! ❤️
  19. Fellow waitlister for NC State Poetry. I'm really hoping that I get moved up from the waitlist. (I did email them to let them know of my continued interest in their program.) I would be over the moon to work with their poetry faculty for multiple reasons. Plus it is the one place left in my potential list of schools that my kids' dad could transfer his work (we are currently in Utah)... So... Please universe, please please please! ❤️
  20. I'm still waiting on them, too. I'm hesitant to make a pest of myself by emailing them, but I might this week. I interviewed for poetry on February 7th.
  21. Has anyone heard whisperings from Ole Miss Phase II yet?
  22. There are plenty of incredible writers out there who were not accepted in their first try. I just had someone tell me that Tobias Wolff didn't get in until his second attempt! Tobias Wolff!
  23. It really would be! ❤️ Wishing you best of luck too!! xo
  24. University of Pittsburgh (I had an interview in early February, but they had frozen grad offers) & Ole Miss Phase II. Please Universe, I promise to do amazing work in either of these programs!! ❤️❤️
  25. I mean obviously UVA had to accept SOME poets... but the spreadsheet makes it look like, "Nah, we're just not feelin poetry this year." 🫠
