I am wondering about taking NSERC PGS D abroad to American PhD programs. Although NSERC clearly states that you can combine this with foreign sources of funding, I am wondering if anyone knows details on how the universities handle this. Specifically if I am offered a fellowship worth X, and NSERC worth Y, can I hold these concurrently to receive X+Y? If not, why not? I see some schools may have a cap on the funding you can receive, but would they still stack to some amount up to the cap?
