I'm sorry if this sort of question gets asked a million times a day, or if this is the wrong board to ask, but I was wondering if it is possible to get accepted into a program for a PHD or an MA in a language I am minoring in currently. I currently double major in Health and Fitness Management and Spanish, and I am minoring in Japanese. When I started taking Japanese, it was really just because I wanted to learn an eastern language along side Spanish, but I have really taken a liking to learning it. Being this far into my degree, and coming from Texas where Japanese is a little underrated, it really isn't possible to go back without scrapping all the work I have put into my current majors. Do PHD and MA programs expect an undergraduate major in the targeted foreign language, or would a minor plus linguistics classes be suitable? As far as my goals for Graduate study, I really want to become a teacher at the collegiate level.
