  1. Yea that was me. I went to the interview last weekend and then my POI emailed me today saying that although I was qualified for the position, the admissions committee thought that my research interests were not a good fit for the social program. I'm not mad at all because I totally agree that my interests didn't match my POI's as well as I thought they did when I applied. That said, there were 2 and in one case 3 prospective students per POI at the interview weekend. Sorry I don't know what they will do if all the people they brought out for the interview decline admission.
  2. Does anybody know if you have to fill out a FAFSA for PhD programs in psychology? Almost every one of my programs (in social psych) mention that if admitted, I will receive full tuition remission as well as a living stipend in exchange for assistantship work. I would just like to know how the financial aid process works for grad school.
  3. Yes, some social psych programs have already been contacting people. Personally, I have been contacted by Northwestern, Florida State, and the University of Arizona if that helps anyone. However, my advisor told me that many programs do not contact students until late Jan/early Feb. And I have also noticed from the forums that some students are contacted for the first time in March (or even April) with their acceptance.
