  1. I use a carry-all type purse/shoulder bag, but if I had to choose I would pick a messenger bag over a backpack...
  2. Can anyone recommend a good cable internet deal for cheap students? Is there one package that everyone tends to have?
  3. That's totally ridiculous and untrue, especially within the field of speech pathology.
  4. Holy mother of god, thanks man. I'll keep all this in mind. Good to know that my fears about moving in September are justified -- I'll keep looking!
  5. I posted this on the Boston thread, but I thought I might as well post it here too in case anyone has insight... I'm knee-deep in realtors and potential apartments right now, but I'm having a problem. Our orientation is on Sept 1st... but 99.9% of the listings are "available September 1st". The small number that aren't are available in July, and the realtors that I've spoken to have made it pretty clear that I'm going to be lucky to find anything in August. Unfortunately, since I'm moving from Seattle it's not an option for me to start orientation without having an apartment, and I also can't afford to pay for 1 1/2 months that I won't be living in Boston, along with my current rent in Seattle. How have other people gotten around this? I'll admit, I'm feeling a little scared about how things are going to turn out right now.
  6. Hi all! I'm knee-deep in realtors and potential apartments right now, but I'm having a problem. I'm starting an MS at BU in the fall and our orientation is on Sept 1st... but 99.9% of the listings are "available September 1st". The small number that aren't are available in July, and the realtors that I've spoken to have made it pretty clear that I'm going to be lucky to find anything in August. 7. I'm cobbling things together with a small scholarship, federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans and then a grad PLUS loan. Not ideal, but there wasn't much of a choice for me. Just crossing my fingers that my scholarship will increase in my second year! And I'm making a big move (Seattle to Boston)... ack. This is stressful as hell for me and I'm definitely open to any gems of wisdom!
  8. Ugh, I'm jealous! I've had nothing but radio silence from BU and the anticipation is killing me.
  9. So there right now! I was completely anal and grade obsessed for almost my whole time in undergrad and now it's a struggle to pay attention at all.
  10. Has anyone heard anything about BU e-mails, orientation, etc?? I'm so impatient!
  11. That's awesome! I love it when things work out perfectly.
  12. Regarding BU, who did you talk to about pre-reqs? I spoke with E. Gavett about mine (I also have a BS in CDS) and she seemed very relaxed about it and made it seem like all of my classes would transfer over no problem...
  13. Yay, fellow classmate! I e-mailed Ada and that's how I ended up getting hooked up with my current roomie; she was super nice and helpful. As far as locations go, I'm from the west coast so my Boston knowledge is exactly zilch! Any input on Packard's Corner? I'm looking at some places there and they're pretty competitively priced but I'm wondering if it's an okay area...
  14. Seriously! Congrats to everyone -- we made it to the other side!
  15. I'm moving probably in mid-August, and as for apartment searching, I hooked up with another girl in the department who was looking for a roommate who already lives on the east coast... so she's helping out a lot with that. Mostly just looking at the BU housing search and other listings that seem at least slightly reputable. You?
