  1. I'm the University of Washington-Seattle theory admit on the results board. Would have mentioned it yesterday, just felt a bit sheepish posting about in the middle of people getting their Harvard acceptances!
  2. Ugh CAPoliSciPhD, just got your PM. Can I take some time to deal with my rejection or would you like your answer now? Sheesh.
  3. Don't know if anyone else has applied to UC Davis, but just got a mail from the university saying that admission decisions will be available on the embark site from the 3rd of March
  4. Just got a response from Charlotte Kuh, the director of the study. She says that there is no chance the ratings will be released before April 1.
  5. This might only interest the theorists, the new PGR report is out. http://www.philosophicalgourmet.com/
  6. Polisci, did you get into Yale, Princeton and Columbia? What can I say, You The Man! (or girl, as the case may be...)
  7. Completely off topic and most of you might know this already, but there's a lot of good info on grad schools at this link http://www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/99553-faqs-about-graduate-school-economics-links-useful-threads.html I found the threads relating to Q.12 in the FAQs pretty useful.
  8. No news about UVA funding yet. Had sent an email to the grad secy Cassandra too. No response. Since you already mailed the DGS, I might try with the grad school next.
  9. everyone just take a deep breath....
  10. Sent you a PM and mail karmacola. Just consider what I'm saying, that's all I'm asking.
  11. Just how many students are there on this board looking to do South Asia as a comparativist? You guys do realise that there are only so many spots to go around, don't you?
  12. I just wish Harvard and Princeton would announce their results already, start that cascade of application withdrawals from other universities and so clear things up for the rest of us.
  13. In at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), tuition fees waived, 19,000 annual stipend, no TA/RAship for 1st and 5th year. International, subfield: Political Theory. I never thought I'd get into a single university, let alone two, but I've already started taking everything for granted....
  14. No, haven't applied to Johns Hopkins. One acceptance from UVA so far. Was disappointed not to hear from NYU today. Would have gladly done all the formal theory and quant method courses in the world to be a part of that department. They've also got Nagel in Philosophy, Dworkin and Waldron in the law school. I was even looking at their website yesterday for housing options! Serves me right for getting ahead of myself.
  15. Now I haven't applied to Duke myself, but someone on this blog https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=21008160&postID=314287100600527945 reported an admit yesterday
  16. Thanks PollyTheory, I'm interested in the question of distributive justice, especially the work of John Rawls on the matter. While I was researching grad schools, you have no idea how hard it was for me to find people who do liberal political philosophy in an analytic style (and who are not in philosophy departments). Apart from Virginia, I've applied to NYU, UC-Davis, Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Georgia.
  17. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Decided not to post till I had an acceptance from somewhere. Got in to Virginia, like many others on the board. No letter or email yet, just got to know from the website. Pretty happy too, since my subfield is political theory and Virginia is supposed to be one of the better departments in the US when it comes to such "navel-gazing" (as an earlier poster so endearingly called it.) Am an international student too, so I hope they're generous with the funding. There is just no way I would be able to afford graduate education on my own. One down, seven more to go.
