it's so amazing to be accepted to these schools! I think the funding will not be a problem. I once wondered whether the stipend of NYU was sufficient for the cost of living in New York, and people told me : even students financially supported by the Chinese government live well there, and they just have about $1, 000/month.

It's really great that you think so! you'll make it!

it's so shocking and unbelievable.... i am sad to hear it...

Thanks a lot for being so supportive! Actually I think indeed NYU might fit me better than all other schools, and I am looking forward to meeting people there on the open day~ I've never been to NYC before. I hope I will like it. :-)

I decide to attend the open house of NYU, and I think I will decide to go there. After all, this is the only acceptance I have got, and I withdrew all other applications, except that of MIT. considering MIT has so many applicants.... I think it's highly possible that NYU might be my only choice available...

Thanks a lot! i'm praying for every one of us~

Congrats! its's awesome~

I just got an informal notification from NYU, telling me that I was accepted. This is one of my top choices. I feel so excited. the campus visiting will be on 10-11 march. May God bless all of us!

really a very impressive profile! and congratulations ! Applicatives and Austronesian languages interest me also. are you a native speaker of certain Taiwan Austronesian languages? finally i was also interviewed by NYU (Harves and Kayne), but i was so tense in the interview that several times i even asked them to repeat their questions.... I should have had a better preparation... May God bless every linguistic student here~

hi~ would you mind sharing your profile and the list of schools applied to with us? ~
-
applied to 4 schools: app fees: 315 $; gre: 23*3 = 69 $ (one of the schools does not require gre); toefl: 225$; transcript: about 52$; mailing: about 19$. total: 680$. + a lot of time wasted on checking mails and result posts.

emm... let me try to calm down.... i hope everyone of us will be enrolled in an ideal program~

why, according to the results posts, the interview notifications of UMaryland are not given on the same date? i am waiting anxiously...

I just finished reading the second volume of "3-body"..... then i browsed posts about SOP and writing samples of this site and began to feel uneasy.... i haven't had really serious linguistic courses in my previous programs.... i just read something on my own...about syntax... and i know hardly anything about semantics or phonology... i am applying for MIT, NYU, UMD and UMich.... but after reading posts on this site, i began worrying..... my profile seems to be too mediocre... MIT and NYU are my dream schools, because I am interested in Kayne's and Pesetsky's works....

Good to see you too I saw your post.... your profile is so awesome.... let me weep for a while....

Hello, everyone! I am applying for Fall 2011 Linguistics PhD programs, too. My profile is rather humble: Chinese; GRE: 700/800/4.5; Toefl: 105; BA & MA in French-related programs in China, GPA: 3.5, 3.6; few research experiences; interested in syntax... While waiting for the results, I am reading posts here and science fictions to kill time... "Three-body", I do love this novel, enabling me to be concerned with something else .... I do feel a great tension after reading a few posts here.... but it's no good worrying.... so... for the moment i indulge myself in the 3-body planet....
