  1. Just realized how difficult it is to choose even the university. Wish there was a school league table kind of a thing for this too!
  2. Waitlisted. Overall: GSPP - in with $5k; HKS- Waitlisted; WWS - Rejected. Attending: GSPP (Even if I get in HKS, is way too costly to attend) :-) Seems I'd be enjoying the beautiful Berkeley weather in a few months :-) Congratulations to all those who made it!
  3. Hi David, May be not the kind of question you might have expected :-) I received a mail from the admissions officer at Berkeley asking me to mail my Official Degree certificate (not the transcript - which I already did as a part of the admissions process). Is this standard? I reside in India and have attended an Indian university (IIT Delhi). The more problematic part is that I am out of town for a week and would be able to send the above document only by say 21st of March - would that be a problem? Thanks in advance! :-)
  4. Great! Sadly I wasted away the day and now it seems the night is going to be long one I was reading last year's acceptance thread and it seems there was only one admit wave coming out of the WWS gates and tragically one guy received an acceptance which was later modified to a waitlist :-|
  5. At what time did you get the mail? Just nervous
  6. You area on a roll mate! Mark my words - your HKS admit is on the way :-) Probably you'd dream about that tonight
  7. Congratulations! Well done :-) Hope you get a fat scholarship too! Fingers crossed :-) Any international admit (yet) out here?
  8. Good luck Smerd!
  9. It mentioned a departmental fellowship of $5k and a text similar to what mushroom has quoted earlier. No idea about the Javits Political Leadership Scholarship.
  10. Not much - $5k - but still better than nothing. And given California's finances, I guess it's good enough :-)
  11. Best of Luck Skeedy! Hope you get the CMU mail soon. Am working on a very tight deadline for the next two days (hopeless!) - so can't even get excited properly :-)
  12. Admitted to GSPP (MPP) - relief! Good luck to all those who are yet to hear back :-)
  13. Just got an acceptance mail from GSPP (MPP) - departmental fellowship too :-) Any idea when HKS is due?
  14. I am sorry -- it is the MPA program indeed
  15. Program Applied To (MPA, MPP, IR, etc.): MPP Schools Applied To: GSPP, WWS, HKS Undergraduate institution: IIT Delhi (one of the better engineering universities in India) Undergraduate GPA: 9.1/10 (Summa Cum Laude) Major GPA: 9.6/10 Undergraduate Major: Engineering Physics GRE Quantitative Score: 800 GRE Verbal Score: 700 GRE AW Score: 4.5 Years Out of Undergrad (if applicable): 2 Years of Work Experience: ~2 Describe Relevant Work Experience: worked with the Planning Commission of India for almost an year, co-authored a couple of policy papers and a book chapter. Involved with the NATCOM document preparation or the Government of India. Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): Took over 6 weeks - got inputs from a former HKS professor. Highlights my background (rural) and commitment towards provision of energy services for the poor in developing countries. Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): Physics professor - should be solid; former HKS professor - super solid; a former Manager: should be solid Questions: Hoe much of a handicap would the work experience thing be? I've undertaken courses in economics and policy (Calculus was aplenty - thanks to my Physics major). Would it make more sense to wait for an year even if I get offers?
