Is there more than one possible lab that you could be interested in? Always nice to have options... I was told at my interview in Utah that 30% of students switch labs and it is completely acceptable, moreso if it is done in the first or second year.

Congrats! Been awhile since anyone has said anything in this thread, I'm glad you updated with some positive news!

I havn't seen anything from Duke though... and historically speaking they should have sent out things in early Feb. Got an acceptance from Chicago today, but they want a response by March 13th, no funding, and no visit unless I set it up and fund on my own, so that's not really an attractive option right now.

Gosh darnit. Another day filled with news from a school I applied to and an empty mailbox.
-
You could always call them and ask I guess. Or, I can go for you. I take it, its not expenses paid then?
-
Didn't get that mail. I am local too. I checked their website and it said we can check admissions status after March 1?

Suck. Someone got a UCLA IDP visit invite, and my mailbox is still empty. Waiting......

What to do after graduation (if you are rejected) ...

I moved to Japan for a year and taught English. I was pretty angry that I didn't get in. I had applied to md/phd programs. It gave me the distance and time I needed to really take a deep breath, evaluate what I wanted to do and reapply again this year. I have an acceptance now, to a school I really want to go to, so I'm excited about that. Japan was lots of fun too. If you think you need to beef up your application you can do that. I wanted to get out of the school system for a bit and enjoy myself. (4 years of 20+ units per quarter university plus intense summer schools and I was due for a break) -
Got my reject from Northwestern. Oh well.

Ditto on the crazyness factor. What the hell happened this week? I didn't see much action for BME at all, and as the week came to a close I was sure something was going to happen.... nada. I applied to 12 schools and have only heard from 1.... they sure are taking their time this year. Anyone think it has anything to do with the economy and they are waiting around to see if they are going to get funding?
-
So far, this week has been pretty dull. I havn't seen hardly any updates on the board for BME.... I thought things were really going to start picking up too. I'm bummed about Georgia Tech. I'm really hoping they just didn't get to my app last friday and it will make it in this time. Oh well.

Yes, seeing someone else get an email invite makes me obsess too. Its horrible really. Oh well. Like I said last weekend, I saw a result before the weekend to a school I applied to and didn't hear anything till Monday.... c'mon schools, lets get those mailing lists out at the same time!
-
I made an excel chart of all the results for last year, separating domestic from international. International got notified a little bit earlier on average, and both had their peak months in Feb. Pretty even though. This should be the month we all here from the majority if the schools =/
-
It seems their acceptances have historically gone out around the end of jan. But from year to year, there is of course going to be some variation. You could analyze it any which way you want, but I wouldn't interpret a lack of early results as a negative sign. I posted previously that I had made a list of the schools that I applied to with expected acceptance dates and most of those are in Feb. or March so I expect those months will be the busy months for results. Things are just getting started. Also, I saw someone did an analysis for econ results or something like that. And they found schools are the most likely to put out results on a tuesday. Thats something to think about as well.

I would not freak out. I saw someone got accepted to U of Utah on a friday and I didn't hear from them till monday. Just go with the flow. I figured it might take them a couple of days to send them out if they finish their selection at the end of the day or they personalize each mail. (ie. not a mailing list). You never know. I have noticed an international acceptance for USC. Again, it would seem, the international students find out before domestics.
-
I see a rejection to Purdue on the board. And no update for me. Going to be another tense weekend. I wonder if international students get results earlier? anyone?
-
Yea, this week has been real quiet. I was thinking about placing a message asking for updates the same as you! I was thinking I might have heard something from Northwestern by now, but looks like that will come with the majority of them in Feb.

Ditto on the USC admissions. Mine came through at 1030 on a Friday night. So strange. "Remember the admissions deadline is April"..... thaaaaaaaanks... my application was submitted in October... Oh well. I did write all of the schools on post-it notes, and used the search feature to look up their acceptance dates from years previous to arrange them in order around the border of my monitor.... yeaaa.

Today was the day. I got an acceptance to the U of Utah. I am soooo happy. I think I don't have to check my email 10x an hour anymore.... but I probably will anyways.

I applied to MD/PHD programs, and I applied late. I think that pretty much did me in. Not an international student. My GPA did suffer from 3 science majors in 4 years but it wasn't disgusting, and CMON, a triple? I didn't send MCAT scores to any schools. Oh well. I had all of my applications submitted in October this time so I've been waiting awhile, but now things are starting to get exciting, and the waiting is getting more intense. Hopefully we all hear something positive this week. Oh and checking status.... I have all of my emails forwarded to my phone and I can check the status websites on it too, so I am mobile in my obsession. yay me.

Going to throw my hat into the ring also. Applied to: Northwestern, U Utah, USC, Michigan, Duke, Case Western, GA Tech, UCLA, Urbana, Chicago, Purdue and Penn State. Stupid I know, but I didn't get into medical school 2 years ago after applying to as many schools and I had a 37 on my MCAT and a triple major in Chem, Bio and Physics for undergrad so I really don't want a repeat performance. The stress is a killer. Seeing that acceptance from Utah Bioengineering didn't make me feel any better about my empty mailbox on Friday afternoon either. Got an email from USC at 10:30PM Friday inviting me to submit my application which they got 3 months ago. Joy. Good luck to everyone.
