  1. Hello

if someone could respond to this posting I would greatly appreciate it. I am thinking of attending UT's MSW Program but as an out of state student I am worried about being able to afford tuition there. From their website I've gathered that out of state students are eligible to receive assistantships and resident assistance/tuition waivers (if certain criteria are met).

    Here are my questions:

-how available are assistantships (specifically RA positions) to MSW students?-how likely is it for a out of state student to be granted a scholarship of $1000 or more?-how do most out of state students pay for/afford tuition?-do you know of any MSW students who were awarded internal fellowships?-in general, how easy/difficult is it for out of state students to receive tuition assistance and/or tuition waivers?

    Thank you!

  2. I applied to UCLA and UC Berkeley in December, UW in early January, ASU and U of Denver in late January. Sent off my Boston College app just last week so I didn't expect to have heard from them yet. But you heard from Pitt 5 days after you applied?? If only all admissions departments took care of things that quickly....

    Hey

If you applied to the UW MSW program, u probably won't be hearing back from them until, at the very earliest, April...I applied there too...they take for-ever to give a decision

  3. I heard back from two of my schools:

UT Austin - ACCEPTED! [2/17] - (MSW) - waiting to hear back about fin aid

Washington University in St. LouisĀ - ACCEPTED! [2/15] - (MSW/MPH Dual Degree Program) - 30k scholarship (total between both programs)

  4. Just read this from UW.

The 2011-12 FAFSA on the Web is available as of January 1, 2011. The Priority Filing Deadline for 2011-12 is February 28, 2011. Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be transmitted/sent by February 22 and must be dated as received by the federal processor by February 28, 2011. You must list the "University of Washington-Seattle", Code #003798 on the form.

    glad I checked!!!!!

I was gonna tell you the same thing!...is UW your first choice evil???

  5. thought I'd add my msw application submissions to the mix! so far i've applied to:

university of washington - (applied in Dec)

washington university in st. louis - (applied 12/6)

university of texas austin - (applied Jan 14)

was told by washu that a first round of admissions decisions would be sent out next week...crossing my fingers! i also applied for a full tuition fellowship at washu that i'm hoping to hear back about in march

i know from friends and acquaintances that i have here in seattle who applied to the msw program at uw.... that uw won't be telling anybody anything until around april(ish)

good luck to all who are still waiting to hear back from their top choices!
