  1. If you get into TPP, you will find full funding through an RA position. At the Open House in October I think they said 99% of students are fully funded (tuition + ~$2200 per month for living)
  2. Masters. Though if somehow I got accepted into TPP, I would consider scoping out the Ph.D. program (TMP) and maybe try to transfer in after a year. I think their website says a handful of people do that every year. But of course thats all thinking way too far ahead at this point !
  3. Something worth noting -- often unsuccessful applications to Ph.D. programs in ESD are forwarded to ESD Masters programs for consideration, including TPP. This would suggest that ESD Ph.D. admission committees need to go through their applications a bit before TPP can finalize their decisions. So the admissions timeline is not "contained" within TPP so to speak; they might be waiting on other parts of ESD to review their own applications first.
  4. Nothing today. I expect early March?
  5. Guess it wasn't today either...its almost 4 pm in Boston.
  6. Very true. Just double checking -- the first point of contact is email right? Then formal letters later in the mail probably?
  7. This is brutal! I wish they told us early March and then just surprised us with February decisions. I think I'd prefer that.
  8. It's a tough call for sure. Stanford's program seems to be more pre-professional and quantitative, whereas TPP seems to be more academic / much heavier on policy. That was my understanding at least. I'm interested in doing research though, so I'm leaning MIT. Also good to remember -- Stanford's MS is completely unfunded (60k for a year out of our own pocket or something?) whereas in TPP basically everyone gets funding and a reasonable living stipend. So that can really be the deciding factor ! And you're right, its funny how Dec/Jan flew by but as soon as February hits the calendar, each day just creeps by. Maybe tomorrow!
  9. So where else did everyone apply? And is MIT TPP your top choice? I think their yield is probably like 80-90%, which is pretty high, meaning its most applicants top choice (not surprising). I also applied to Stanford MS&E and to Industrial Engineering at University of Toronto. I think Stanford decisions happen at the end of March, which seems very far away.
  10. Didn't they change the application deadline to December 15 this year? My understanding is that they moved the admission timeline up a few weeks, so mid-February makes sense. Does anybody know when the application deadline last year was? Also, a quick search on the gradcafe results page shows Feb 23rd as the earliest acceptance for TPP last year. I imagine we'll hear back this week, I don't think they would have told us we'd hear back mid-February if they didn't think they could stick to that. Has anybody emailed Ed? It's probably too early to start asking them, but if I don't hear back by the end of this week I plan on calling/emailing Ed to ask.
  11. Not yet. Time is going by so slow!
  12. Wouldn't be surprised -- its happened in the past. At this point it could very well just be a matter of one person sending out all the emails, and they could probably do that on a weekend if they wished. Here's hoping for the best Valentine's Day ever....hahaha
  13. Sorry, I don't know how many people applied this year. Best of luck to everyone! Did everyone get an email from Ed saying that you would hear back by mid-February?
  14. Was anyone here at the Open House? I met a few students there and have been in regular contact with them since, they've all been very helpful. A couple things I learned (also not on paper, but just from hearsay): 1. I've heard between 130 and 200 people apply every year, and they make about 50 offers to end up with a class size of about 40-45. 2. Vast majority (nearly everybody) ends up with an RA position, though you should expect to compromise on specifically what you want to do research on in order to find a supervisor. 3. RA funding is significant enough that it covers all tuition, and you end up with about $2200 per month leftover for housing, food, etc. Where does it say that the application deadline has been extended?
