Scratch that. Received my rejection. Eerily, about five minutes after signing my contract elsewhere. It's like they're watching... Positive vibes to all...!

Did anyone apply to Carnegie Mellon or hear any news on the decision front? They're my last notification, aside from UCSB. I left voicemails and emailed the grad admissions folks about 4 times in the last week without so much as a generic "keep waiting." It's like they're daring me to keep hounding. ...You're on, CMU.

Ditto. I called on Wednesday -- the coordinator said that everything is very faculty specific at this point, and a faculty member had even asked her to assemble an admit file for another new student the day before. She essentially said that if you haven't been notified yet of anything, you are on someone's waitlist, and since all the faculty are moving at individual paces, it's just a matter of waiting for them to select through their own processes... That was about as much insight as I got. This whole application ordeal has instilled in me the value of deadlines for academics. Let us be thankful for April 15th. Without it, they would be happy to wait as soon as the night before the next semester before notifying us of decisions. Blargh. I guess it's a little fair, I only submitted the night before most deadlines as well!

Yes, double congrats! (...though you'd think the decision status on the electronic app would show this by now, if decisions were mailed a week ago! Sigh.)

I have yet to hear from UCSB as well, though I thought they had their interview weekend ages ago...since I wasn't invited to that I was expecting a rejection in the wave of application updates last week...but still nada. They were also my first application deadline (geeze, like a lifetime ago!). Hmm. Anyone with more insight/plausible theories on this? What's your deal, Santa B!

Hi HyacinthMacaw -- I can confirm that the Penn State interviews will take place on the 21st. My POI phoned me back in mid/late February. My understanding is that there are 9 invitees, but I am not sure for how many spots (or if anyone knows their accept/waitlist status yet -- I don't, anyway). It's such a late interview date that I'm betting they'll be down to the wire giving offers and then filling in spaces, so I wouldn't get too discouraged for now! They'll only have a month longer to make everyone wait come tomorrow! Best of luck
