  1. Hi Everyone. Bit of a roller coaster yesterday at mail time. Larger than normal manilla envelope - but it contained a rejection letter (Slovak Republic, Research Grant). Have a great time in whatever country you are headed to. It's been an interesting process - glad the waiting is over and rest of life planning can begin. ~ josedob
  2. To whoever uses the alias evellynprice on the forum who updated the chart in the last 24 hours for ETA Slovak Republic - could you send me a personal message? Congrats! Research Grant applicant to Slovak Republic, interested in learning more about your acceptance letter.
  3. "Anyone else feel like their entire life is in limbo. It seems I can't even make the simplest decisions until I know where I'll be living in the next five months. The uncertainty has been great in curbing pretty much all of my spending though. You know, "No point in buying this if the Fulbright goes through..."" So so true......here's the most challenging thing on our end... we just found out my wife is pregnant! Doubt we will be able to find an international insurance company that will cover maternity/child birth. Had a Facebook friend from host country (Slovak Republic) do some research on costs for child birth without insurance. The 'funny' thing is that it looks to be less expensive to have a child that country without any insurance vs. with my 80%/20% insurance deductibles on my current health plan here in the States. ...and the waiting continues.
  4. yikes...that just made me nervous, Lulu. I would have assumed the same. My wife is as anxious (probably more) I am about all this. Thankfully my nation's academic year doesn't start until October so there's some time. Ready for the waiting to be over. Too much to think about.....loss of job, need to sell home(?), how to transport kids that far without driving them or my wife and I insane. ;-)
  5. Anyone else on this forum planning on taking families/dependents? Just wondering how others are preparing. I'll be taking my spouse, 5 yr old and 2 yr old. ...waiting on that large white envelope.
  6. Is there any way to confirm that IIE received all of the official academic transcripts? Had my institutions send them directly.....now I'm second guessing myself.
  7. I'm a bit perplexed (well, maybe not the right word). Here's my question: The country to which I applied, Slovak Republic, has two listed spots, and had 2 spots last year. However, there were no research grants offered out of 5 applications. Any clues as to how often a nation outright says, "thanks but no thanks this year" to Fulbright possibilities? Any place we can see the number of finalists forwarded in a prior year? Thanks.
  8. oh my......finalist for Slovakia. <excited> .....best way to tell boss I still don't know, but things are looking much better? <not excited>
  9. New to this group.....finding out a week earlier than expected will certainly be a great way to end the week. Come on first round!
