  1. I don't know.. I think I would go more business casual than casual. I know you've already been accepted but it's better to be overdressed than underdressed, you know? I've got an interview tomorrow and I'm wearing a jacket, a button down shirt, nice trousers, and flats (I don't do heels). But it is an interview day and they made it a point to tell us this and to "dress accordingly."
  2. Wow, that's great!! It must feel great to hear some good news!! Do you mind if I ask where you applied and who you've heard back from yet?? I applied to 10 programs and have only heard back from one so far; this wait is killing me!!!!! Again, congrats!!
  3. Hello Hello! Has anyone on this forum applied to UT Austin and heard back from them yet?? I was offered an on-site interview (which I really didn't expect!) and I'm SO excited. Anyone else going to Austin next weekend?
  4. Wow, that's amazing. So have you only applied to Women's and/or Gender Studies PhD programs? I'm still an undergrad but I'll be graduating in May with a BA in Women's Studies. Yeah, I spent a year in London and although I love living in the UK, I think I'm partial to the American educational system as well. Although I'm not sure how similar the UK system is to the rest of Europe... Anyway, good luck!!
  5. Hi Sequi! I'm not an international student but I applied to a Canadian school and was wondering the same thing.. I imagine that international students would be desirable because it would add perspective and diversity to a cohort, but I'm really not sure. Where do you live now? Have you studied outside your home country?
  6. Thanks! Have you finished your MA? What did you study? So have you applied to PhD programs for fall 2011?
  7. Hi everyone! Can't believe I just found this thread! I've applied to Women's (and Gender) Studies programs for Fall 2011, but only to MA programs. And let me tell you, this wait is obnoxious. I've only just finished all my applications a few weeks ago (except one which has a suspiciously late deadline--March 1) and I'm already going nuts. I literally check on online application status about four times a day, it's sick, I know. I applied to University of British Columbia (Vancouver), UT Austin, San Fran State, San Diego State, Brandeis (joint MA in Sociology and WGS), Simmons, Towson, Southern Connecticut State (super random, I know), DePaul, and Roosevelt. Has anyone applied to these programs too/heard anything from them?? Ten programs and I've heard NOTHING yet! But I'm hopeful since most of my deadlines were Jan 15 or Feb 1. And congrats to everyone on their admits! Very exciting!!!
  8. oops, I meant Dec 15th deadline!!! But perhaps, it's still too early..
  9. I'm driving myself crazy waiting for these decisions and so badly want to email the grad admissions offices but I am unsure of the proper etiquette for that kind of stuff. What should I say in the email? Also, when is it too soon to do this? Would it be too soon to email a school with a Jan 15th deadline?? Any feedback? Thanks!
