  1. Hi Again,

Sorry I haven't been on here since the original post! Ryerson sent their offers out very early (mid-February); University of Toronto was early April and York (as usual) came out very late April. Funding packages are sent a few weeks after the offer of admission. My experience historically with York has been rather stressful and this MSW experience would have felt much the same if I hadn't already accepted from another school. They can be disorganized at times, leave students waiting for endless periods of time, etc. I would contact someone at the university IN the Faculty of Social Work (not the call centre through grad studies).

Also, the advanced standing MSW and the two year MSW don't operate with the same timeframe in terms of offer letters.

    thank you so much

  2. Hi There,

I received an offer of admission from York about a month ago, followed by a funding letter about two weeks ago. I applied to the Advanced Standing MSW though, which I believe sends out responses earlier than the two year program. I declined the offer online (and I believe you can also see your status through the same system). Why don't you give them a call or send them a quick e-mail? At this point it can't hurt any to follow up with someone!

Did you apply to any other programs?

    -Carrie

2 year msw. York is my last hope and the office is unresponsive with vague answers.

  3. any word?

    Hi all,

I applied to the 2 year MSW program at York too and I'm still waiting - it's driving me crazy! Myfile hasn't changed and I've even called the office; the first time two week ago they told me I would receive an answer by the end of the week and I didn't. I called again last week and was transferred to Gina but no answer so I left a message. I hope today is the day!! The twitter feed said waitlist went out and it looks like it did but I don't think they actually sent out all acceptances/refusals like they say because I haven't heard if anyone being accepted either. Good luck everyone - fingers crossed.

  4. I'm waiting to hear back from York too, did you apply for the 1 or 2 year? I'm going for the 2 year, people are posting that they have been wait-listed already as of 3 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything! I have no idea if the ridiculous wait is good or bad..... there's not enough on here about Canadian schools! :)

    any word?

  5. I will give it a few more days. I got invited to the department welcome, where they had a catered event to welcome all the incoming graduate students and convince us to choose their program. Really strange. Me and a few others were still waiting on letters, while there, but got the same e-mail. I accepted my funded offer in the meantime, just in case. Does anyone have any horror stories of being rejected after all of that?

  6. What exactly does "family-friendly" mean? I'm not trying to be a hair-splitter, and I'm not trying to start a flame war, but this seems to be one of those terms that is never quite nailed down before a discussion begins. What exactly would constitute a "family-friendly" policy that was not unfair to a non-family entity? Does Joan get preferential consideration because she wants to go to her kid's play, but Mitzi, who wants to get her hair done can go pound sand? If someone sticks his head in my office and says, "Is it okay if I leave an hour early? I have a ball game to get to" am I supposed to give that less flexibility than "Is it okay if I leave an hour early? I have my kid's recital to get to." The reality for me is that in either case, I'm short one person for an hour. If I can manage it, sure, why not. But if I can't manage it, am I being "family-unfriendly"?

    very individualistic thinking

  7. I wouldn't give up hope - I finally heard from York today! And surprisingly the email was in my junk mail folder... be sure to check your junk mail as well! Since they gave you a date - I'd just wait it out until the end of the day tomorrow and if you still haven't heard anything, then send them a quick polite email.

i heard from york yesterday too. FINALLY

  8. I'm also waiting on York.... I did find a facebook post from the Education department regarding master's applications in case anyone else is waiting to hear back about that. "The Graduate Admissions is presently adjudicating the doctoral applicant files. Once they are complete, they will be adjudicating the Full-time MEd applicant files and decisions will most likely be made sometime in April." This was posted early March.

    thanks!

  9. Good to know I'm not the only one. There have been a lot of results lately on the results board, so I'm getting worried.

really? when I check, I see some results for PhD's and Masters and not one entry has been for the program that I applied for.The deadline was Feb 1. Maybe it's too soon?

  10. I applied to U of T and York, but am nervous because U of T doesn't offer any funding for their programs in my area and assistantships appear to given to the funded students (like 10% of grad admits), where as York is generous, but my second choice. Decisions, decisions.
