  1. Still haven't heard anything from UCI, neither an interview request nor a rejection, which is apparently a good thing for anyone out there who hasn't either (spoke with some current students). Still wait listed at UCR.. the 15th can't come soon enough, but sort of pumped on being wait listed at my top two choices. Just 5 more days of waiting!

  2. Truth. I have a friend who is currently attending a grad school and got to see all of the applicant work Apparently I made it in the students' top 10 favorites, but I didn't even get an interview. I told her I didn't get in, and her response was something along the lines of "On the other end of this process, I really have no clue how the admissions decisions are made." The right fit will be found, and most of being a working artist is rejection so may as well get used to it now.

Not that I don't cry myself to sleep.

I want to be completely honest here. I don't think not getting in to UCLA should make you question grad school at all - in my opinion.

I live in Los Angeles and went several times to their open studios to look at the work. It didn't think it was good or interesting - except for one incredible painting student. I also thought the students were homogenous - similar ethnicity and age.

  3. Ditto but at a different school. Womp womp.

I hope they didn't send anything yet. I think i am over analyzing too.

I called the guy who I scheduled interview with last year and asked if they are doing interview this year!!!! He said I will be contacted if I am one of the finalists.

It is really depressing because I was on their waiting list last year and I expect this year to be better!

  4. It's all relative. Some people have entire other careers before going to grad school, some people are like you. Both seem to work.

im 23 and I went from high school to a B.A, then B.F.A to an M.A and now to an M.F.A with two residencies during the summer in between. I honestly love and hated it but its the only thing that works for me. people say you need time between degrees but for me that is what summer is for, traveling and life experience. I do feel at times it has really helped my work but also kept me in a very specific conversation. I'd always looked at it as my BFA was a break in between two critical studies degrees and an MA as a break between two art degrees. I feel at the moment i am in a perfect situation for an MFA but it seem that my staying in the school might be a hindrance to admission

  5. I still haven't heard anything, and my application says that it is still being processed. Weird. I'll email them by Wednesday if I hear nothing.

I got an emailed rejection letter last week, as did a few other people in this board. I haven't seen any posts from accepted people, but Riverside takes such a small number of students I'm not surprised we haven't heard from any of them.

  6. Why are you guessing a rejection from UCI? I spoke with admissions and they said the first letters in the process would be going out this & next week.

    Hey Everyone,

I've been a lurker for a while, but thought I'd say hello. I'm a video/performance artist. This process is so emotionally draining!

    CCA-interviered

    SFAI- interviewed

    MassArts- interviewed

    UCI-guessing a rejection

    UCSD- holding my breath

    CalArts- rejection

    CMU- rejection

Although, I'm a bit older - 32 - I've been thinking that if I don't get a decent aid package I may wait and apply again next year. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts about that.

Congratulations on your interview Zaquon! It sounds like waiting it out worked for you.
