Did anyone attend the admitted students day on Saturday?

I am interested in the financial management & analysis concentration (or a self-defined concentration in economic policy) at Heinz , while American has allowed me great flexibility to pick courses from the econ department to create an economic policy concentration. I know these two schools aren't comparable; both Heinz and American has its own merits. But is it worth getting into debt for a CMU degree over a free tuition at American? Any advise would be of great help!

Wow congrats! I got in late last month, but they said they werent sure if they could get funding for me... I guess that means no funding

Yes, I did. I checked the boxes in my application. The admission email said funding decision will be announced in mid-march....so I am guessing any time from now?

I have no idea actually. I won't think too much about it now. The admissions office told me I should hear back from them next week or so when I emailed them on Monday--but then I received the admission email this morning

I believe they said they will get back to applicants through U.S. postal service and/or email. I got mine through email today!

My wallet tells me to do the same too. Given that i'm heading to grad school straight from college, I don't want to be burdened by a huge debt. While I am open to any career path that comes my way, I am hoping to work in a research institute, think tank, or in the civil service (I am an international student) dealing with economic policy. My advisors have told me that both schools are good in its own rights, but a few of them told me that I shouldn't turn down the chance to attend CMU (regardless the fact that financing it will be a problem).

Hello everyone, first things first, congratulations to all who got into their program of their choice! For those who didn't (just like me), don't be disheartened Secondly, I have a dilemma and I hope to be able to gain some opinion regarding this matter. I have been accepted to both American Uni (MPP) and Carnegie Mellon (MSPPM). AU offered me a full tuition remission and an assistantship, while CMU offered me a $12K scholarship. Financially, it would make sense to take up AU's offer and graduate with the least amount of debt. But will this affect me in the long run? Job prospect? Are any fellow peers here facing the same dilemma or have had to face this dilemma in the past? I would appreciate comments and insights. Thank you!
