nah, i was checking to see if there was any change when people started talking about how their Slideroom status changed...but nothing for me. It still says the same thing as it was before.
-
Did you also fly in for the interview? I got to the city 2 hours before the interview, it was such a tight schedule. It's already thursday over there (well, 2:30am), so I guess if we don't hear from them for like 15 hours, could be a good news...
-
Yeah I kinda knew I'd be rejected cuz all the people who were invited for the interview were notified long ago. Slade is part of University College London, so it'll have to go through extra stuff to admit students they said.
-
Mine was for MFA Fine Art, in the later afternoon on 24th. How did your interview go? If they send out mails instead of emails for rejection, I guess I wouldn't know extra week or so. Do you live in London/UK?
-
Thank you, orangetrousers! Best of luck to you too!

Just got home, received rejection letter from SAIC (as I expected.) It was dated 2/22, post marked on 3/1. (I live in Chicago) Anyone else whos still waiting to hear back from SAIC...this letter might be coming your way... I had an interview with Slade last week. I heard from someone that only 100 people were invited for the interview out of 2000 applicants, and they only take 15 people...(not sure this is absolutely true though) They said if I don't get in, I'll be notified within 3-7 days, if I do get in, they won't contact me for 3 weeks. I haven't heard from them and it's been 6 days, might be a good news?

hahahaha, if this was your facebook status, i would have "like"ed it.
-
yeah I do think location is important as well...like you said, i'll be making connections while in school and i'll be starting career there. thanks, now that you said it, i'm confident about answering the question honestly
-
Thanks for your opinion! I guess they won't ask any further than that (they wouldn't waste time for talking about other schools during interview, yea?) so I guess I should answer honestly. It's just the fact that I only applied to schools in London except one, (because that is where I want to start my career at) so I was afraid that they would think I only care about the "location" rather than "school." but thanks anyways!
-
yeah, it is definitely one of the hardest questions to answer because of the unclear definition of 'contemporary art.' (well, might be a good thing that it is unclear, in terms of answering the question) anyways, thanks for the info!
-
true true...maybe i should just say few of the schools i've applied. thanks for your opinion

I got most of the question from the forum here (I forgot who posted them for us), so I'd be repeating same thing. But here are the questions I gathered. Some of the questions are specifically related to my practice. Why do you want to go to Slade? Why do you want to go to grad school? Why now? How do you think your work will change if you move to thislocation? What resources of this program will be the biggest benefitto your development as an artist? What are your influences? If your workwas not about this, what would it be? What for you constitutes a good work of art? What draws you to a piece of work? What motivates your work? Who are your main influence? (make sure to name some of thedead artists from long ago, title of the work, quotes that artist has made, etc.) Where do you see yourself in 10 years? How does your work fit in with the contemporary art world/scene? How do you fit into contemporary world? Or describe your work in the context of contemporary artmovements? What do you think is a good critique of your work/badcritique? Why/how did you choose the people who wrote letters for you? How will you contribute to this program? What do you do for fun? What artists who are no longer living influence you? What book are you reading right now? What do you think aboutit? (It helps to remember specific quotes that you find meaningful.) What are you working on right now? Please explainthis work (xxxx03.jpg) What have you seen that you can’t stand? What is your favorite piece of art? Why? (Title, artist, year) Have you done research about Slade, how much do you knowabout Slade’s teaching method? Can you describe yourself, besides the fine art world, suchas personal habit, etc. What is your work about? What other aspects of culture influence your work besidesart/art history? How do you see yourself taking advantage of Slade’s enviroment/program? What exhibition have you been to last year? What have you done since you’ve graduated? What contemporary artists are you into, and why? Tell us about the conceptual underpinnings of your work? Talk about your process. What are your indirect influences? (music, book, etc) What do you think about Clement Greenberg’s essay onformalism? How is your work related to Minimalism/ProcessArt/Formalism? What made youinterested in the 1960s movements in particular? Do you have anyquestion for us?

Oh you've been asked. I mean they should know we apply more than one school, but I dont want them to think I have back-ups or anything (want them to think they are my 1st choice), so was just wondering...
-
Maybe this is an odd question, but do interviewers ever ask you where else you've applied? I've collected/created 40 may-be-asked-questions at admission interview and trying to prepare for the answers, and this just crossed my mind. I don't know if they ever ask candidates where else they've applied, but if they ever did, what would be the best answer? Do you think we can be honest about it?

RISD did same thing to me, I received a catalog today. (I didn't even end up applying there....)
