  1. Yes, I was awarded a grant from SFAI and it was listed on the award letter. The grant amount was listed on the top portion, underneath the tuition, not in the bottom, where the stafford loan info was.
  2. Congratulations! I hope that I get that call soon... although I submitted my application after the deadline, which puts me at a disadvantage. I hemmed and hawed about applying to a low-res program, even though I liked the sound of it, wondering if it would give me all that I wanted out of a MFA program. I'm beginning to realize that this art life is what ever you make of it, so I applied after the deadline. Hopefully, there will be a slot left over for me. It's official: rejection from Carnegie Mellon. Letter came in the mail today.

    Plan B

Cry..... and then apply to the drawing marathon program at New York Studio School for this summer.
  4. I have also applied to SFAI's low residency program and haven't heard a peep. I received an email a couple weeks ago saying they had received my application and they would let me know if anything was missing (which there shouldn't be.) and then crickets........
  5. Jayyy,

I've applied to Penn State for painting also. I still have received anything - did you get notice by mail or email?

    Thanks,

    Yvon

  6. Congrats on the acceptances! I've applied to Penn State for painting as well. How did your notification come? Mail? Email?
  7. No worries. The lack of this information fits with the general trend of my applications' statuses . Any news would be good news at this point - well, not good. (I am sooooo sick of waiting!) Thanks for your effort!
  8. Would you mind looking up: Penn State SFAI Thanks!
  9. I just checked my status - Eliminated 2011. My other Slide Room application is still listed as open (Penn State), so it does seem we have been rejected from CMU. Sigh....
  10. Anybody hear anything from Carnegie Mellon? When I visited in December, the grad admissions woman, Keni, said they start sending out applications in February if you make the first pick/rejection. If you are in the middle of the pack, they wait for acceptances to come back and then send out another round based on how many spots they have left. I'm trying to resist calling to see what's going on.
  11. Daiy, good questions! Id on't have the answers. I have been terrified to contact the programs I applied to, thinking that seeming impatient would be a detriment to my application. It seems like the whole application should be enough of an advocate... you would think.
  12. Thanks Sarah J. This art life does seem like a roller coaster for the ego. I had a pretty good year for 2010 - got some grants, a residency to VCCA with a fellowship, so I went into the MFA process feeling pretty confident. Now however, I'm feeling pretty low. The confidence is short lived. I don't like the idea of waiting another year; it's been 5 years already since I graduated. I'm ready for school universe! Somebody accept me! ( that's me yelling to the universe in hopes of someone hearing). Since Michigan rejected me, I think I am going to add an application to SFAI - they're still accepting applications after the priority deadline. I was toying with the idea of applying initially to SFAI but didn't for some reason. ( I'm scared of the cost.) I have heard mixed comments about SFAI but generally that they are good for painting. Anybody know anything about low-residency programs? I am going to apply to the Summer MFA program.
  13. Update - rejected from University of Michigan. Terribly disappointed; it was my top choice.
  14. Hello all, Nice to know I'm not alone. Feel like I am going crazy with anticipation. Haven't heard anything yet..... Schools I've applied to: Carnegie Mellon Cornell - drawing/painting Penn State - drawing/ painting University of Michigan Montana State (deadline Feb 15) - drawing/painting University of Montana (deadline Feb 15) - drawing/painting I really want University of Michigan or Carnegie Mellon! Michigan interviews 20 people on the short list - they fly you out to Ann Arbor for an interview. I am desperately waiting for that call. You would think it would be in Feb? Maybe the snow is causing a delay? ( Like I said, desperate). Carnegie Mellon's grad admissions coordinator said they start sending acceptances out in Feb if you make the first round. If you are somewhere in the middle of the pack, you might wait until April. I just want this uncertainty to end! Check out my site yvonnekunz.com: Most of my application portfolio is the 2010 work. Cheers!
