  1. Happy birthday you! I hope you get some good news on your birthday.

  2. I was also just accepted to UT Austin! yay. Has anyone found out about funding yet?
  3. financetoart - it's certainly not impossible, I have friends who have been in similar situations with far fewer credits than you who are now Art History PhD candidates. Dreams do come true. But I would say your writing sample is hugely important - have a ton of sources/ images and make sure they are cited immaculately. And volunteer at a museum if you can! showing more interest never hurt anybody.
  4. I just heard from Emory - I'm tempted to immediately accept and yesterday when I heard I did, in fact, run around my apartment screaming and generally acting like an idiot. My other acceptance was from my safety, Savannah College of Art and Design (Masters in Arts Administration) that I received a long time ago. I'm still waiting on Texas, UVA and Hopkins.
  5. I was just accepted to an amazing school - one of my top choices for sure, if not my top choice. Full funding plus stipend for 5 years. But it's the first place I've heard back from. Am I crazy for wanting to wait until I hear from the other places to accept - or should I just accept now? My other three schools are a longshot and two state schools that most likely won't fund me. I feel like I am over thinking this. How long is it acceptable to wait to accept an offer?
  6. I understand your freakout but to me it seems like you're in fine shape - and that we are in a very similar boat. I am also applying for Classical Art/Archaeology degrees, though I'm going for the PhD. I've been out of school since 2008 and am seriously insecure about my Latin, (which I had taken for years), but I had never taken any Greek. And my modern languages are not the best, only one year of college Italian (yeah, not really what programs are looking for). So, it seems to me like you having a sampling of both Greek and Latin in college is a good thing. And most programs wont be testing you on your languages right away, but rather over the first two years, so you should have some time to get yourself a tutor / rosetta stone (my plan anyway). And if in interviews they don't bring it up, don't bring it up either. And I am also interested in going into museum work! Do any of your programs have worthwhile on-campus museums? That's definitely something to look at. Ask about museum internships that are built into the program.
  7. Hey everyone, it's my first post. I'm finding this site to be a needed wealth of much sought after information and at the same time finding so many more thing to freak out about than I had just an hour ago... Anyway, I'm applying to Johns Hopkins, Emory, UVA and Texas for Classical Art History. What with results seemingly coming back so early, I'm now starting to worry that I've only heard from one of my schools, and not even a solid acceptance. I was invited to a recruitment weekend in Atlanta for interviews, but have not been invited for interviews elsewhere as of yet. I have a BA in Classics and Art History, a strong GPA and (what I think are) pretty good GRE scores. Has anyone else been to interviews? Heard from Hopkins or other state schools?
