  1. I got a reply from an email I sent to my POI a few days ago: "To my knowledge the final outcome of the application process has not been released by the committee, but I assume they will be notifying fairly soon. The whole thing devolves to the admission committee, so there's not much I can do or say at this moment, but I'll let you know as soon I hear anything definitive. I suspect you'll know before me..."
  2. I have been too. I'm working in the field right now, so every day I get back from site I check all of those things hoping to hear something. I think maybe today is the day? But I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't hear until later.
  3. I sent an email to Stanford on Saturday, still no response. I'll keep this topic updated if I hear anything.
  4. Hey everyone, I just thought I'd put an update out there: I sent emails to both Stanford and New Mexico on Saturday asking about the decisions, and I got an email from my POI later Saturday night saying that I had been admitted with full funding to New Mexico (pretty excited, 2 for 2 so far). So I think the decisions there have been made, but the official responses just haven't gone out yet. Hope this helps, and good luck to everyone.
  5. I emailed them today, waiting to hear back from them and UNM, but I got into Purdue, so success! The Stanford website says that all applicants will be informed before the 28th of this month. Personally, I'd like to know sooner than that. Right now would be nice.
  6. When I visited, there was no mention of doing interviews by anyone (professors or graduate dept chair). I also met with the entire archaeology faculty when I was there, so I don't know if they do interview but waived mine since they'd already met me. I don't think they did interviews (they're a pretty small department and don't get as many applications as other places), and if they do them I didn't get an official one. I don't know either way though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck!
  7. Just wanted to give an update on the email I sent to purdue: I heard back from them today, and they said decisions had been made and were sent to the Graduate School Dean, notifications should go out within the week.
  8. Hi everyone, I just wanted to add what I knew about the schools I'm applying to in the hopes that maybe someone else will find the information useful. I'm applying to three grad schools for archaeology. My background is in compositional analysis (XRF) in South America and I have given a poster at the SAAs on the topic and am preparing a paper for the upcoming ones this year also dealing with XRF. This is my second go round at applications, last time I got rejections from (in this order): Yale, Stanford, UNC, UVA, Vanderbilt (the last two were in like, early April). This year I've applied to three programs: Stanford, Purdue and the University of New Mexico. I have visited all three places before the application decisions began and met with all three professors I wanted to work with along with other faculty. Stanford will send out decisions by Feb. 28 (according to their website). I emailed UNM and they've been closed due to weather, so they're just starting the admissions process now, instead of earlier in the month. I have emailed Purdue, but no word back yet. From looking at past years, it seems like all three places will send notifications around the 20th of February. Good luck to everyone.
