  1. I heard today by letter and a phone call today. Charles Traub called me earlier today to let me know. I applied to the Photography, Video and Related Media program.

did he mention anything about possible funding? i received the admission package a few days ago, but no word on funding...im just wondering if they even give people offers.

  2. I want to be completely honest here. I don't think not getting in to UCLA should make you question grad school at all - in my opinion.

I live in Los Angeles and went several times to their open studios to look at the work. It didn't think it was good or interesting - except for one incredible painting student. I also thought the students were homogenous - similar ethnicity and age.

has everybody who applied to UCLA got a notice already?

  3. I talked to someone this weekend who got an interview for painting, but I haven't seen anyone who got one for photo.

I heard risd doesnt always do interviews....

    just got rejected from CalArts.....

  4. If you are a USC roski MFA applicant waiting to hear back, maybe you've noticed this too...

In the USC slideroom, on the log-in page there is a drop-down for active programs. It says

    Programs > MFA

    2011 finalists

    submit 1-5 pieces

    deadline 03/31/11

    fee; $5

... I reckon this means that the MFA jury will decide by the 31st, using 1-5 select works from each finalist in their decision... maybe... do you think that's right?

The 31st is a long way off yet!

hey what program did you apply? i have never seen anything unusual on my slideroom...starting to worry...

  5. Just got home, received rejection letter from SAIC (as I expected.)

It was dated 2/22, post marked on 3/1. (I live in Chicago)

Anyone else whos still waiting to hear back from SAIC...this letter might be coming your way...

I had an interview with Slade last week.

I heard from someone that only 100 people were invited for the interview out of 2000 applicants,

and they only take 15 people...(not sure this is absolutely true though)

They said if I don't get in, I'll be notified within 3-7 days, if I do get in, they won't contact me for 3 weeks.

I haven't heard from them and it's been 6 days, might be a good news?

your rejection from saic came so late! i got that like a month ago....

its weird that slade will not contact their finalists after the interview...i wish ucla is the same....

  6. Rejected from CalArts today, but no biggie as it wasn't really where I wanted to be anyway.

    Yale - rejected

    SCAD - accepted w/ scholarship

    CalArts - rejected

    CU Boulder - waiting

hey when did you get notification from calarts? how did you hear it? thank you!

  7. Thank goodness, a call from UCLA today as one of their finalists. that was LEAST expected. so full of excitement and nervousness. The first thing on my mind . . . maybe i can get back to work now!

for painting? I wonder when they are gonna make decisions for the photo dept.. i am super nervous...they havent called me since the interview which was on monday....

  8. I went to SAIC for undergrad, that would be one of the biggest reason I wouldn't get in.

They usually won't take people who already have a degree from same school...oh well.

I have heard that too....i just got a rejection letter today from saic. i graduated last year in august.... i was dumb to apply the school for the grad program...shouldn't have done that....waste of money...

  9. .......hey im applying UCLA Photography MFA, i just got an email from their dpt head James Welling (not thru the official .edu email address tho) saying that he likes my work and I am one of the candidates that they are considering......he said "a phone call" but didn't mention anything about interview......what is that supposed to mean? I hope I didn;t get a scam or sth....
