  1. Looks like I got an EV studio - and I'm wondering if I should ask for reassignment.

Rent is $1181, which looks like it's below average for Palo Alto, but a tad expensive for on-campus housing. There's a piano room. It's decently large. So far, so good. And I won't have to worry about bothering a roommate - which is precisely what bothers me a little, because it's easy to go antisocial...

    Thoughts?

  2. Student housing applications are open! Where's everyone applying to?

So far I'm putting Lyman before Rains - from what I can see, both look about the same, except that Lyman has a piano practice room. Am I crazy?

  3. Aero & Astro MS here. Unless they change their minds by mid-March. :P

I have 2 questions for anyone familiar with the university and/or the area-

Where can I rent a plane and go flying, and do I get a student discount? (Is there any place where I could continue to learn aerobatics?)

How easy is it for non-music majors to play music? (I play the piano and the organ, but I haven't found any organ around where I am right now, and I miss it...)

  4. Hi Thorondor, Congratulations on your admission. Would you like to share your profiles here? Thanks!

Not sure it'll help a lot since I applied as an international student, but here goes:

Undergrad Institution: Supaero (top aerospace engineering school in France)

    Major(s): Aerospace Engineering

Overall GPA: Around 15/20 last year, which I believe is somewhere between 3.5 and 4.0 GPA

Length of Degree: Well, it's an odd system. Grad degrees take 5 years to obtain. Anyone want more information?

Position in Class: 12 out of 124 last year

    Type of Student: I

    GRE Scores:

    Q: 800

    V: 610

    W: 4.0

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Private pilot

Applying for [ MS ] at:

Stanford Aero & Astro - Admitted

    UMich Aero - Pending

  5. I certainly hope they take more than 4 or 5 students. Last year, they took 3 students from my current university. This year we're at least 2.

what (if anything) was said about funding in your admission email/letter?

Not much of anything in the email - it was essentially an invitation to the Visit Day. The only other useful information (well, apart from being admitted :D ) was that we'd get a more detailed letter by March 20.

    So excited! :D
