I was accepted by Columbia MS in OR, too. It says "the academic department will notify you if you have been awarded departmental financial assistance" Has anyone been awarded? or anyone know how this process works? I am in no financial condition to attend unless tuition is waived...
-
Wow. Congratulations. Did they email you or you learned by chance when you checked the website? I just checked mine- it says no decision has been made. You are probably still thinking which one to choose. Are you leaning towards Cornell or Gatech?
-
By the way, am I the only person here who applied to University of Florida ISE PhD program? They will announce some of the offers in a week, I am trying to be optimistic...
-
Cornell said the same thing to me when I contacted them two weeks ago. I guess they are waiting to see the responses of students who already got accepted. or may be they are lazy to send the rejects honestly, I have not seen any rejects from Cornell PhD so far...

I contacted Gatech early this week. They said my application is still under review. I guess they started reviewing the applications later than other universities because their deadline was Feb 15. They just gave responses to students who submitted very early. In my opinion, they do not have a waitlist for now...

On the left side of "Sumbitted" there is "Fall 2009". Go into that, type your password, then press "Continue".

Rejected from UCLA DOTM. Check yours here: https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/new ... Status.asp

Congratulations. Were you informed very recently or back in mid-February? I am now waiting from 4 programs and it seems you also applied 3 of those 4, assuming that you applied to UCLA DOTM. One difference between Cornell ORIE and GeorgiaTech ISYE is the size. While Cornell has 40 PhD students, GeorgiaTech has around 180. Also, GeorgiaTech has may be two times faculty of Cornell's size. I am not very well in these, PhD placements of the two programs seem similar, maybe Cornell slightly better. And also as fakeworm said, Cornell is mainly focused on OR. Financial engineering part of Cornell is more stronger than GeorgiaTech's. It will depend on research area probably, in which research area are you interested?

to allyoop, If you search the results for the last years in gradcafe, you will find similar discussions for GeorgiaTech. As far as I remember, it was written there that you are accepted if you receive two packekts. By the way, when your documents reached the dept? and are you for PhD for GeorgiaTech? I applied for PhD and they were in dept around Feb10. My status is still unchanged.

To IOEgirl and mar, Today I requested to be considered for masters program for Columbia, waiting for response now. Do they fully or partially waive the tuition for masters? What about availability of TA-ship etc? Do they mention these things in the acceptance letter?
-
I learned my rejection when I emailed them last week. By the way, I saw 2 acceptances posts for Berkeley PhD. Congratulations to them. If they write in the forums, may those guys share their profile with us?

This year is indeed tough. If the companies and banks will be firing people or applying hiring freezes next year, then same thing might happen next year. It depends on the economy. Thing is that if the graduating undergrad thinks he/she can not get a good job, or if the person who has a job does not feel safe, they will apply to grad schools. Second, the incoming class this year will not be more, probably less than previous years...

Congratulations iemsnw. What other schools did you apply to?

I received from MIT 15 mins ago. Reject as expected. Lets see what will come from Cornell and GeorgiaTech.
-
There is 1 rejection and 1 acceptance for MIT ORC. They are dated Feb28(Saturday) I did not receive anything; I thought that they will announce them on Monday(2nd) Please, respond if you received anything from them...
-
Today, I received rejection from Stanford. Was expected. For last three days, I am receiving 1 rejection per day. I am curious which program will send me email tomorrow
-
For MS&E, I applied to stochastic systems; optimization; and finance tracks. I think admissions committee of these tracks and say policy track is probably separate as they are very different areas. Did anyone who applied to one of above 3 tracks I wrote receive decisions?
-
Guys, bad news on my side. I was rejected by Berkeley IEOR. I emailed them about my status and then got this news. I thought I may have some chance. After all these rejects, it seems to me that probability of acceptance from Stanford or MIT is very small.
-
Someone posted rejection from Berkeley IEOR PhD. If the person writes on the forum, I just wanted to ask when his/her documents reached dept. Mine was there around Jan 20.
-
I emailed and got no response, too. I guess they will start sending decisions in early March...
-
allyoop, thanks for putting the list of programs in the signature. Guys i suggest to share the programs we apply in the signature. I saw it in the computer science thread. We do not have it now. It will help all of us to see which schools already decided, which are not, which are keeping wait-lists etc. To add signature, go to user control panel, then go to profile and press on edit profile.

Guys, I got rejection from Columbia IEOR today (for PhD). Well, I was expecting it after lots of acceptances were posted in recent days. Anyway, will wait for others...
-
In previous years, Cornell lost some of its strong applicants to other universities. So they come up with strategy of offering generous fellowship to some students and then wait for their responses; upon that sent other decision in March ( I read it in some Cornell ORIE report) I guess your friend is probably one of those guys. Does he have any preference between Yale and Cornell? Anyways, lets just pray that you friend will get an offer from Wharton OM or will like Yale Econ

In the past 10 days, there was absolutely no news. Last year, MIT ORC announced majority of results on February 25, which is less than a week from now...

I saw the post, too. And I have not heard; they started reviewing mine 4 weeks ago. Do any of you have information about what is going on in Columbia? Did they send most of initial acceptances?
