  2. hey mkg1284, you were there at the BERKELEY department visit as well? I completely agree with what u said. but u said there are years that significant numbers of students fal prelims...this is quite scary... I've already sent u a message on board.
  3. Congratulations! To those who got admitted to Stanford MS&E, top notch! I'm still sad that I was rejected by'em last week though...
  4. Definitely right! It's just unfortunate that we are graduating this year...anyway, we should always have faith!
  5. Crap...It seems today is the STANFORD MS&E Rejection day... Just got rejected few minutes ago...
  6. My Optimization Course professor graduated from MIT/ORC with a PhD degree. He told me there are seven top notches in OR for graduate schools in the nation. MIT, CORNELL, NORTHWESTERN, GATECH, BERKELEY, STANFORD, COLUMBIA. He also mentioned that MIT/CORNELL definitely provides the best in the nation. Anyway, this is just what he thoughts...I really can't tell since I haven't been either of these places...
  7. Congrats! Definitely a top notch. If you wanna specialize in OR, Cornell is in the same level with MIT/ORC. GaTech is famous for its IE department but not so much as an OR program.
  8. guys, stanford is giving out MS decisions today...just saw it...
  9. Congratulations!!! Thank god Columbia finally starts to give out Maters... Anybody knows how its MS program is? Only one year... a little too short
  10. There's no word of financial aid yet, I'm still waiting for my admission package. I got 530+800+3.5 for my GRE and my GPA is 3.91 from Purdue IE, I hv no research experiences or paper whatsoever... I believe my five recommendation letters really helped me... Good Luck to all of u guys!
  11. This is probably the most exciting thing I've heard these days.... Just got admitted by Berkeley with MS/PhD in IEOR...This is awesome!!!
  12. Same here, just got rejected from ORC few minutes ago...
  13. Sorry buddy...my bad...
  14. Hey Guys, the latest news: MIT/ORC's final decisions (PhD) will be made by the end of this week and sent out starting this week...Exciting...Worrying... This information is provided by the graduate coordinator from ORC...
  15. Guys, MIT/ORC has responded to me yesterday saying that, and I quote "We are in the final stage of the admission process. " Apparently, we're gonna find out the truth whether we want or not... Good luck to all...including myself...nervous...
  16. Xanda Yao?!...Is that u?... R u graduating this May too? Wow...
  17. haha that is fun! yeah...tomorrow...there's a movie premiere tomorrow called...friday 13th though...
  18. Quite crucial but true. Strong background! Sad but true, you are rite...to get into top programs like MIT or Stanford, recommendation letters means everything. ... But you'll get great offers, otherwise the admissions is crazy... Good Luck!
  19. I did got the admission of M.ENG from Cornell last week. I'm not sure how they are actually giving out the decisions though. Columbia's decisions usually takes 3-5 weeks and purdue's IE department just started review according to one of my Professors. Hope this helps.
  20. IE's human factor side does need a lot of stats. This year, OR's admissions for masters&phd is just as hard as getting into other programs because of recession at this time.
  21. Yup, I did saw those statistics on the website, but the truth is when I looked at their PHD student's resume, I almost passed out...
  22. No problem! Congrats! I mean, northwestern's PHD Program is really strong. I think I start to become sensitive about emails these days...
  23. which schoole xiaocai? MIT? OMG!
  24. Yup. I applied for MS/PHD in both MIT and BERKELEY MS for Columbia though. Well, now I just feel MIT is just too far away, since ORC there are really tough to get in... Are you applying for all OR programs as well? all PHD?
  25. Cool! MIT ORC's Admissions said that they would make the decisions thru mid to late feb. My columbia application has been under review for more than 3 weeks now...it's about time to find out the truth... The interesting thing is that my admission from Cornell in MASTERS only took 3 weeks after my submission of the application, which really surprised me. I just hope all the programs can make such a fast decision...
