hi!
funny thing is I got the exact same offer ( no surprise since people tend to apply to both schools) !
depends on what kind of student you are.... I like deep heavy research so I'm heading to Purdue! UIUC somehow doesn't offer a thesis for MS students ( at least not me)
what's your specialization (or what do you plan to specialize in)? Systems/Structures/Propulsion/Aerodynamics/Controls ?
i heard that top aerospace companies send their HR people to Purdue to look for talent. Actually, the same can be said for all top aerospace programs in the States (Caltech,MIT,Stanford,GeorgiaTech,UMich)
no problem,
what kind of "other related resources" are you considering?
if it's assistantships, it's gonna be tough on both unis, since it's unfunded.
if it's part time jobs, I think they're pretty equal everywhere.
In your case i would look for the structural faculty's research and see if its aligned with what you did in your undergrad/work xp. Reading their papers is a good way to know
Hi! Am in the same situation like you! Got both admits, am in aero systems
I would go for purdue because all things equal, it has a better ranking. I think its tied with georgia tech for 3rd/4th place in aerospace eng
i think there's plenty of fish left in the sea.. We're not fighting for bread crumbs. Everyone's strong in their own domain, and hopefully we fit into the committee's "wanted" profile. ( supply & demand )
my theory is, the committee approved the early batch based on their initial review (because the applicants were pretty top). Then they'll move on to the next batch, hopefully we're in it.
nope, haven't called them.
btw what're your other options besides TPP? ( Or how many schools have you tried )
I'm trying for around 12, got 3 positive (without funding), one negative so far. Really hope TPP can help with the funding.
