  1. Chris, you certainly know better than I do, since you contacted the dept. directly. I'm just trying to look on the bright side! Are you going into Lit. or Rhetoric? I noticed that crutch has been admitted to Lit., and I wonder if that makes any difference. At any rate, many congrats to you and to all who've been accepted!!! I scrolled through the forums from last year, and I think it seems as if those of us who were admitted in Feb. are probably the first round, because in 2010 many people didn't receive notification until March. An open question to all of the other lucky admits wondering about funding: do you have teaching experience? I do, but I'm not sure how helpful that is. Ugh, waiting is so painful!
  2. After researching the ASU website (FAQ), I found this information: When will decisions about teaching assistantships or funding be made? Decisions about teaching assistantships are usually made in March. The department will call, e-mail, or send an official offer letter via U.S. mail. If I do not hear from the English Department by April 15, does that mean I will not be offered a teaching assistantship? No. ASU is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools. Students who are offered financial support (T.A.) have until April 15 to make their decision. We cannot make additional T.A. offers until outstanding offers have been declined. Perhaps crutch is an ideal candidate and was thus given preference, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the rest of us have already been relegated to the T.A. waitlist. March is still a few days away - I haven't given up hope yet!
