  1. I have will have a bachelors degree in communication disorders too and the University of Nebraska said there were a few classes that I needed to take. I have decided I am going to MGH though and I do not need any other classes for them. I guess it varies from school to school. Good luck!
  2. MGH! I am thrilled! I am just focusing on finishing up the semester and the relocation to Boston! What about you?

    MGH

I am really excited (and nervous) to move to Boston! I can't wait to get to know everyone who is attending. I see a lot of BU forums and such so I figured we may as well start one for MGH so we can talk about apartments and get to know each other.
  4. Thank you so much for the advice! I will definitely look into it! Have you decided where you are going? I see you were accepted to a few Boston schools. Congrats!
  5. I am also nervous about moving to Boston. I probably won't be relocating until August though. Congrats to both of you and I am excited to meet you both in a few months! MGH!!!!!!!
  6. Yes it worked. From what I hear BU is amazing as well. Congrats and good luck!

  7. Only a few people from our undergraduate programs have clinical experience as undergrads so there is no need to worry about that. They provide adequate supervision regardless of your experience level. I can ask around about people looking for roommates. I know of a couple of people who are looking for apartments, but I am not sure if they are looking for roommates as well. The professors here are extremely friendly. The program is small and very tight-knit. Every professor I've had knows my (and many others) name and are always willing to meet with you to discuss any issues you have or just to chat. There is a graduate work room with tables, materials, a couch, and lots of outlets for the students (and they are getting a microwave very soon too). We have the sweetest new secretary for the on-campus clinic who is very helpful. We have a very active NSSLHA chapter, however most of the graduate students are not involved I think mainly due to their busy schedules. I love Plattsburgh, but it is not the right fit for everyone. It is a nice town, but fairly small. There is a tiny mall but lots of nice coffee shops and some cute restaurants (but like I said it is fairly small overall). I know that a lot of people enjoy the outdoor activites in the area since we are right by lake champlain and whiteface mountain and lake goerge and lake placid are also nearby. There are places to hike, ski, etc. Burlington is very close and we are only an hour from Montreal so you can always shop or visit there. That is all I can think of right now, but if you have any specific questions let me know. I am fairly certain that I will be attending MGHIHP for graduate school. Good luck!
  8. Hey :) I see that you were accepted to MGH. Do you think that is where you are going? I went to the info session and loved it! I am pretty sure that is where I have decided on. I also see that your profile says you are from upstate NY. I am from NY as well.

  9. I am a senior at Plattsburgh State right now and our chapter's NSSLHA President. I didn't apply here, but I am doing an undergrad clinical practicum, I have some friends that were accepted, and I know most of the professors and some graduate students as well, so I am sure I can answer some questions for you if you have any.
  10. I emailed them yesterday and they replied that the admissions committee will have their decisions by April 15th (when most schools want to know if you are coming or not)... looks like I might have to ask for some extensions.
  11. Has anyone else still NOT heard from Northeastern? I have not heard a word from them and I have 3 other schools that I have to inform of my decision very soon!
  12. I am in a similar situation. I decided that I HAVE to visit the schools in order to make a decision. I want to know that I feel comfortable in the location and on the campus of somewhere that I am going to live for 2 years. I bought a plane ticket to Lincoln-Nebraska for their open house, am driving to Boston to visit MGH (about 5 hours), and am trying to figure out how to get to East Tennessee right now. The cost definitely sucks, but for me deciding using the website alone was not enough. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!
  13. Congrats! I might end up there with you too! I am having a hard time making my decision, but I am leaning towards MGH. What was it for you that made you know MGH was the right place? It is mainly the cost that is killing me... that is the only downfall.
  14. I am definitely concerned with the cost. MGH is high on my list and very expensive. Not to mention I probably will not get funding, the cost of living in Boston is insane, and I am engaged now and will have to worry about wedding cost soon too! However, even though it is a big investment I am willing to deal with it to have my dream career. Oh and I did I mentioned that I am hoping to get my PhD afterwards too... I am going to be SO far in debt when this is over so it better be worth it!
  15. Thank you. That sounds very similar to me. I really hope I find out soon. I am still confused about why they told me I wouldn't hear for a while in the email yesterday. Have you been there or do you know anything about the program?
  16. would you mind sharing your stats/a little about yourself?
  17. Congrats even though you are not attending. Weird thing is though... I emailed them yesterday and they said they would be sending decisions out mid-late April? I hope I hear soon too! I have to tell my other schools by April 15th.
  18. Yes, there definitely are opportunities for both. As a matter of fact... I think there is a list somewhere on their website that shows a bunch of hospitals and schools and many more. I am a CDS undergrad from Plattsburgh State University in NY. Look forward to meeting you on the 2nd!
  19. I completely agree. I will be coming from a small town so it would definitely be a challenge. I will make my decision after the session and I am sure you will see it posted here! You can check out the concentrations on the website.... I know there is a literacy one and autism and a few others. They might talk about it at the session also.
  20. Congrats! I was also accepted to MGH. I am trying to decide between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and MGH (although I still haven't heard from 2 schools but most likely between these). I visited MGH a few months ago and it was really nice and modern. The program there seems really intense and challenging which is appealing to me, but may not be to others. They have something outrageous like over 300 placement sites which is also really great. Another thing I like is the ability to have a concentration. Cost will definitely be another factor that I consider since MGH is so expensive. I have only been to Boston that one time, but I am going to the information session on April 2. Are you going? If I do choose MGH I will also be relocating and looking for a roommate. I hope that helped at least a little... I know it is going to be a tough choice for me between MGH and Nebraska. I applied to UNC as well but didn't get in. I couldn't imagine choosing between them. GOOD LUCK!
  21. I applied to Northeastern and still have not heard a word... hopefully soon!
  22. I haven't heard anything from Northeastern yet...
  23. (haha... Love your story) The same thing happened to me. I was had my shoes and coat on and keys in hand ready to go take a test when I get the call. I was jumping up and down and crying and also only caught parts of what she way saying.I assumed the letter that is coming in the mail might have more information? CONGRATULATIONS! Definitely one of my favorite schools. I am so excited!
  24. I did not apply to Plattsburgh but I am attending my undergrad here and I am fairly certain that no one has heard anything yet. I have heard that the decision process for interviews it taken longer than usual do to a large increase in the number of applicants this year.
