An off-day question for the theorists: what kind of stuff are you guys/gals interested in working on?
Myself, I'm currently writing on Alain Badiou. Particularly, his theory of the subject and the political.
Also, I have standing interests in democratic theory (especially Schumpeter and the idea of spectator democracy), Hellenistic political theory, and poststructuralist theory.
Second that. I think theorist hating has plenty of space on poliscijobrumors, although I was wondering if and when the qually/quanty/you don't belong in a political SCIENCE dept. name calling would start up here...and the conversation was so congenial...
From PoliSciJobRumors:
The skepticism about Northwestern is unwarranted (unless my decision link disappears). I know of two other people who have been admitted (one personally, the other PM'd me from the Gradcafe). We are all theorists, so it may be that the Theory decisions have been made. I know a comparativist who does not have a decision yet.
uh oh fellow theorists who applied to NW...
splendid, I've been checking the website regularly to no avail. anyone know how many students they admit per year? assuming that not all the NW applicants will post their results on the page and that the 5 admits already posted are legit, I'm not getting my hopes up.
On another note, how are other theorists doing? Anyone else apply to Johns Hopkins?
