I am an international applicant. I have applied to UCSB, Juergensmayer factor. But got rejection. Still waiting from Columbia-Yale. Gorski is the right man, and I think he loves history very much. Yes UCLA is a heaven for comparative historical sociology. Faculties of Sociology and History do have a large numbers of professors who are pleased to supervise interdisciplinary studies...But I haven't applied to it good luck,

I think it's extremely strong in comparative-historical sociology and sociology of religion...
