  1. This forum is about my only link to sanity these days, so I am happy to pay it forward! I'll let you know what I learn.
  2. I wouldn't give up on TAMU yet. I really get the impression that they've only done a first wave, and the recruitment weekend isn't until March 27-29. I have a call with a prof from there later today. I'll try to ask him if they are finished (this prof isn't on the adcom but he might know).
  3. I applied to Duke (the Sociology track), Chicago, Carnegie Mellon, Brandeis (Social Policy) and Maryland. The Poli Sci I applied (and was accepted to) was Texas A&M. I applied there because it's a good school that is also relatively close to where I grew up. It's good that you have the back-up of work. I've sort of gambled everything on this! I moved back from DC a year ago (I worked there about six years) to care for my grandmother. She died last summer and I made the decision then to not look for a "real" job and instead to apply to grad school (I figured if I didn't do it now, when?). So I'm ECSTATIC to know I am going somewhere! Where all did you apply?
  4. Good call on starting a separate thread! There are two admits to Duke for the PhD on the results page. I haven't gotten my results from them yet (which I'm taking to be a bad thing). I applied to one Political Science PhD program in addition to my five policy schools. The PSc program is the only one I've heard back from (accepted with funding). So I at least know I am going somewhere! But I would really like to start hearing from Policy schools so I can know what my options are. I should be zen with one funded offer but instead I think I am even more stressed now.
  5. Congrats on Duke! I'm jealous! I'm assuming since nothing ever came today it's a no go.
  6. I have officially snipped the last cord with which I was clinging to my sanity. I saw the Duke Public Policy and Sociology PhD go up and now I'm obsessively checking my own email. To no avail. Grrr...
  7. Sorry a bit late in responding, just found this board on Friday. I have been admitted to A&M. I got a UPS package on February 5th (dated the 3rd) with the offer (including funding). Then on Monday, February 9th I started getting emails from the department, including the Director of Graduate Studies, the Chair (who also oversees my specialization) and then on Wednesday from another professor with a similar background and interest to mine. The email from the chair stated that they had just started meeting the previous Monday and made a few offers to the "top applicants" (that makes me wince at how arrogant that sounds, but that was his phrase). That suggests to me that more are to come...my on-line status was updated about 4 days after I received my offer letter.
  8. I was accepted for Political Science as well. But not certain I am going there yet! What is your sub-field? I'm Public Policy and Methodology, even though my B.A. and M.A. are in American Politics.
