It's totally up to your ultimate goal. If you have a plan to study IE/OR in Ph.D. level and to take teaching position, go to the ivy league school. After getting MS there, you will have much broader opportunity to get admissions for Ph.D. of more prestigious school such as MIT, Stanford, etc. However if your goal is just to get a job after any graduate degree, OSU would be better for you. In this global financial crisis, the financial aid from OSU is very precious opportunity. In my opinion, Columbia is not better than OSU in every aspect. For any graduate student, money rules!

To allyoop I am afraid that my case was so exceptional it would be no help for you. I got a postal rejection mail from Georgia Tech last Christmas morning. At that time, my application was not complete because one of my professor did not submit his letter of recommendation yet. I guess that my application was filtered by GPA requirement because my GPA(under 3.0) was too low. So I do not think that my case would be help for anyone. Good luck to you.

To stevenash I got the same message from Columbia. It seems that they sent all the same rejection mail to all rejected applicants. Anyway I sent the response that I would like to be reconsidered as a MS candidate. Good Luck to you.

I knew that I was rejected for Ph.D. by postal mail. (I am an international applicant) Then I requested reconsideration for MS by email and got the rejection by email. Did you apply for Georgia Tech? Good luck for you, too!
