  1. If you are an international student and dint have the good fortune of making campus visits, its best to talk to graduate students in the department. Gatech is definitely very reputed for engineering. ND's Chemical engineering department also has some awesome faculty. About students getting pushed hard, qualifiers can be a little/very stressful in any school so I dont think that should be the sole deciding factor. So check out the research groups you want to work with and talk to/mail a grad student if you can. Different applicants have different priorities when they take a call on accepting an offer from a school- other than the program, ranking and faculty check out factors like location, weather, student satisfaction etc. Both are great admits- congratulations! I too have an admit from ND and will most likely be going there this Fall.
  2. Have you applied for Phd or Masters? Have both the schools offered comparable funding?
  3. Oh thats great. I would prefer to live alone too but am considering grad housing for the convenience of commuting especially during winters. There are 2 bedroom apartments in Fischer grad housing which house 2 students- so you have your own room and share a living room, kitchenette and the bathroom. having your own room will be a little more private than having to share a house with 4 in the O'Hara grad housing... Did you make a campus visit ? How did you like it? Did you get to see the Fischer housing and the campus dining areas? It'll be great if you can share a few details!
  4. I will (most likely) be heading to Notre Dame for a Chemical Engineering PhD this Fall....Anyone else? Anyone planning to live on campus?
