Ok, so I realize that we are all probably overanalyzing this, but if you look on the Norwegian Fulbright website http://www.fulbright.no/Current_Grantees/2010-11+U.S.+Fulbright+Grantees+to+Norway.9UFRrO5W.ips they have *15* graduate students listed as full grant recipients for last year. Weird. I don't know what that means or why the main Fulbright website only lists 10. I guess we will all be left to our theories and unanswered questions for awhile.

Hello again! Did Rachel tell you that she can't give out information on alternate lists or just not respond to your email? I am still waiting on hearing back from her. I am also trying to figure out what to do this summer as I absolutely have to go to Norway before I can start my dissertation. It will make a huge difference in my plans if I am the first or the third alternate. Uff, this is quite the test of patience! Good luck to you in your decisions!

I have been dying to check my mail since I saw your post this morning and I just got home and saw the letter. I am an alternate as well. Ugh. I emailed Rachel to ask what number I am on the list because that will definitely effect my upcoming plans for the summer. I am guessing she won't respond?

Congrats on getting an alternate position. I'm sorry that you still have to wait, though. Did you get an email in addition to the letter? By the way, I also really love Karl Johans gate in Oslo. Hopefully we'll both get to spend some time there next year!

Ok, I just heard back about the Norwegian Fulbright notifications. Rachel said that "the next group of letters will likely be sent within the next week." She did not answer any of my questions regarding why some people were sent letters last Friday and others were not. I guess we'll all have to wait a while longer. This is so frustrating!

I am also anxiously awaiting news from Norway. I just emailed Rachel and will let you know as soon as I hear back from her. Hopefully we all hear soon! I can't imagine why they would have such a discrepancy between notification dates.
