  1. Northwestern University has a PhD program in history that does not require GRE scores. http://www.history.northwestern.edu/graduate/faq.html
  2. I agree with what everyone is saying take a year off. However with a history degree prepare to find a job not related to the field. All my friends who have a BA in history are having a tough time finding anything substantial. On top student loan payments start 6 months after graduation. So maybe a MA is feasible. I went straight from BA to MA albeit my MA is not in history I have not struggled. But then again I am not going to a top University therefore the coursework is not entirely terrible.
  3. Thanks for the input. Hehe I am not intimidated by GPA from masters since mine should be either a 3.85 or 3.9 after this term which is my last. I am just concerned about GRE I have yet to take them and I did poorly on the SAT therefore I am afraid of another standardized test. But I have at least an year before I plan on applying to PhD. I went straight to masters from undergrad I don't think I could possibly do 9 years straight of college with no break. Thanks for everyone's input and I will start thinking of which Universities to apply to. The only problem I can foresee is that I am not getting my masters in History however I have taken history courses as a part of my Master's curriculum.
  4. Thanks for the tips. I am wondering how universities view undergrad GPAs. My undergrad GPA was rather low however my GPA for my masters is high and I belong to a honors society for grad school. So my question is how much does the undergrad GPA matter in terms of applying to PhD?
  5. Hey I am interested in USC for PhD in history. Could anyone here pm me their GPA and GRE scores if USC take them. I want to see if I have a chance to be accepted into their PhD program for fall of 2012. Thanks in advance.
