  1. Check out http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/hei1tu4zi5/ for my profile on CS.
  2. I'm hei1tu4zi5 on couchsurfing. Feel free to add me.
  3. I've seen some chatter on here about making a Facebook page for SE Asia, and I have a suggestion. Everyone (not just SE Asian Fulbrighters) should register at couchsurfing.com. It has really great resources for groups within particular countries, planning out future trips, finding people in your area, etc. I would say that if we start a group, it should be there simply because it's much more travel-oriented. For my fellow Taiwaners, I would recommend tealit.com and forumosa.com for resources concerning language exchange partners, Chinese tutors, local attractions, where to find what, cultural excursions, etc. Just my two cents. Let me know what you think.
  4. Mark another in the Kaohsiung column.
  5. To my fellow Taiwan peeps, Taiwan sent me something by courier today. Unfortunately, they sent it to my old address. I guess it will come here tomorrow. Keep your heads up for something!
  6. 恭喜 (gong1xi3)! Did you apply for the CLEA? I kinda wish we had more Taiwaners on the board so we could start a FB group or something as well, ha! See you soon, yeah?
  7. Connecticut checking in! Just got word that I'll be kickin' in in Taiwan, teachin' kids English. YEEEEEEAAAAHHHHH, snitchez! ACCEPTED! Current addy Postmarked 4/21 Arrived 4/25 Large manila envelope At large applicant, baby! I'm pumped. Who's ready to 乾杯 (gan1bei1) in Taipei with me?! I'm accepting applications for my crew starting immediately! Good luck to the rest of y'all. Those still waiting, keep your heads up and stay busy. Peace.
  8. No news today. Hoping for early next week. Fuck, I'm on edge.
  9. That's what's up! I should be getting mine by tomorrow then, Monday/Tuesday at the latest! I'll definitely keep the board posted. Happy Earth Day!
  10. Goddamnit, OF COURSE they would go out the day before a three-day holiday weekend. For fuck's sake...
  11. Minor things won't be an issue; however, different countries have different rules. For some, you may have to do a separate health evaluation in order to obtain a visa. There are countries (Taiwan included) who will deny you a visa if you test positive for HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis, or certain other communicable diseases. If it's something treatable, I think you just have to show proof of completion of a treatment plan.
  12. I'm up in Connecticut... I feel like I'll be among the first to hear and send out word to the rest of us waiting to hear on Taiwan... On another note, what're y'all's language backgrounds like? Did y'all apply for the language enhancement award? Here's to more waiting...
  13. Ah, and here I was freaking out... I'm glad to find out that I misread last year's spreadsheet.
  14. *sigh* I've been lurking around this forum since about December, but I didn't feel compelled to post until now. I e-mailed Jonathan once I found out I was a finalist for an ETA in Taiwan to inquire as to whether or not I would be informed of the receipt of my transcript... no response. Later, I called to try to get in touch with him, but I was just directed to his e-mail again. I got a response when I had to change my address, but it was very short and general (along the lines of, "Got your information."). I do feel that he has been less helpful than the other regional advisors based upon the reports from fellow posters on the board. Maybe it's something that can be addressed by those who end up being accepted within the Asian region. I know there's at least one other Taiwan applicant on the board... how are you holding up? Notifications were received on March 18 last year, so I've sort of given up on any hope of relying on that as an indicator. I'm sure it varies every year for each country depending upon sepcific circumstances... but I know we were all hoping it would be the same as last year. Good luck to everyone.
