Haha, hi I_heart_fieldwork...that's actually my S.O., I threw it up on the results no word yet from anyone @ WashU to update you on...I'll let you know should that change...

we both applied to cultural -- medical anthro, specifically. when i was in correspondence with a potential advisor he mentioned I believe something like...3 per subfield typically admitted. i sent off an e-mail and i'll let you know what i find out...hopefully tomorrow take care & good luck!

Thanks, I_heart_fieldwork....hmmm, this is turning out to be very interesting. I guess there is the possibility that my advisor was wrong or misunderstood... After I got my interviews @ Emory & Northwestern, she called a colleague of hers and was under the impression that interviews had already happened (her friend's students had "talked to potential students" apparently, but I am wondering if there was a breakdown in communication...). HOWEVER, I would think that this would be definitely something the secretary would have told you when you made contact...I will encourage my S.O. to send an e-mail to her potential advisor and see what's up so we can compare notes...maybe my advisor is confused between flying in for an interview and just flying you in to show you the program or something? I'll see what I can find out and post an update...for your and my SO's sanity! This also makes sense with others getting rejections and us not -- the pattern of operation, anyway. I'll let you know what I find out! I might shoot some e-mails to a few people there, too.

I applied for WashU as well. I won't really care if I don't get an offer, but it's a great program for my SO. So, just to clarify, you've been in touch with people there and you were told not until the end of March? Did you have any kind of interview? (My adviser is a WashU alum and she says typically they fly people in -- but she could be incorrect/this could have changed). If you could provide any more information about what you heard (if you've in fact heard anything more), I'd greatly appreciate it -- neither of us have had any sort of rejection e-mail at this juncture, either. That was me who posted that on the results board. I was just there for an interview last weekend, there were 12 of us in the potential cohort, total. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news .
