  1. Hello everyone! I am interested in applying to the Sociology and Education program at Teachers College (in Fall 2011 it will be part of the Education Policy and Social Analysis department). Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone also applied to this program or is enrolled in it. I would appreciate any advice, feedback and etc. I want to help restructure educational institutions and help shape programs or schools in New York City. Growing up, I went to inner city schools that were struggling or failing schools. However, I found the strength to succeed through inner movitation and help of teachers. I went on to Binghamton University and attained a BA in History and Italian and graduated with a 3.78. What are my chances of getting into this program? I took an Education class that covers the foundations of American Education and we discussed many philosophers, educators or psychologists like Dewey, Howard Gardner, Montessori, Locke, etc. This class ultimately made me realize my goals and due to my own personal experiences, I am interested in reforming the public education system, but particularly working with inner city schools and students. Thank you all, I would appreciate any help!
  2. I'm not sure about that. I would hope that someone is offered a slot/position to their Master's program if someone defers (you are allow to defer up to one year). I actually heard from Rutger's pretty early on- I'd say late February. I officially notified them that I would not be accepting on March 10th (I was offered admissions into their PhD program and was offered a great deal! They are the only ones that offered me money actually and I was practically going to go there for free but I was waiting to hear from Columbia and NYU). NYU notified me in late March that I was accepted and Columbia notified me today that I was accepted into their Masters program. However, I denied Columbia because I prefer NYU's program based between NY and Florence.
  3. Hi guys! I just wanted to let you know that I got accepted to Rutger's with a Teaching Fellowship (tuition also is included) but I denied admissions. I also got accepted into Columbia and NYU but rejected to Yale. I will not be accepting Columbia but will defer admissions for NYU. Hope that helps.
