  1. I almost fell down as it came a day early. country: China region: East Asia & Pacific grant: Full interview: Y status: Accepted address: Perm notification: 5/3/2012 postmark: 4/29/12 method: Manilla envelope academic status: N/A, professional research area: energy policy Location Arizona. The letter came a day early. Looking forward to meeting you all in DC. Good luck to alternates and those who haven't heard!
  2. Sweet. Thanks man, and congratulations.
  3. Do you or any other people who have been informed about China know the official postmark date?
  4. From conversations on this board a few days ago, it would seem that funding has not been compromised.
  5. This is kooky! It has to be a mistake by your university... My university's FPA told me that the only way she'd find out anything would be through me, because IIE will not contact her directly.
  6. I feel like I have already bothered Jonathan enough, but if anyone else wants to get in touch with him, I think we'd all appreciate it. I do have a little bit of good news to share that might pertain to some China applicants. I was getting nervous that the CET Harbin track I program (which starts in July) might be cancelled because notifications are taking so long, and it will be even longer still before we know about the CLEA. So yesterday I emailed CET and they got back to me this morning assuring me that the track I program will definitely happen, even though no one who has been accepted to it can definitively give them a yes at this point. It was cancelled last year, but for different reasons.
  7. Hey Marlo,

I do go to ASU but I am a grad student. I am in Teach for America in PHX. China hasn't heard yet? Keep me posted bro.

  8. for some reason this interface isn't letting me PM you. I'm also in Phx and applied to go to China. Are you at ASU? PM me or email me if it gives you the option to...

  9. China applicants: Would anyone care to ping Jonathan about whether letters are out or will be out by the end of the week?
  10. That's cool, I don't know much about Suzhou. I want to research energy policy in Sichuan.
  11. It does suck, big time, but you probably are overthinking it a bit... I imagine Jonathan gets a hundred emails a day, and maybe he figured he already responded to yours. However, I highly doubt that he is taking the time to cross-check an email's sender with his (from what it sounded like, probably yet-to-be-determined) list of accepted candidates. Hang in there... we are in the home stretch.
  12. The official word on China per an email from Jonathan Akeley yesterday morning is that "It's not possible to predict exactly when the final results will become available, but we're hoping that the final notification letters for China will go out by the end of April." So guess we gotta hang in there a bit longer...
  13. Fellow China finalists: Yesterday evening I caved and emailed Jonathan Akeley to find out when letters were going out. He replied to me very promptly. His message in full: "It's not possible to predict exactly when the final results will become available, but we're hoping that the final notification letters for China will go out by the end of April." So looks like a bit more waiting. Me, I'm going to chill out a bit, and stop running home from work every day to check the mail like a kid waiting on a Little Orphan Annie decoder ring. No, I'm going to kick my feet up and just keep it real for a while.
  14. So no one on here is waiting to hear back on China?
  15. Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. It seems like no sinophiles are on here freaking out, so I thought I would be the first to officially do that. Anyone have ideas as to when China decisions will post? Last year it looks like the envelopes all arrived between 4/18 and 4/20. I keep checking my mail hoping this year they'll come sooner.
