  1. It doesn't actually say. Here is the full text of the email they sent out:

Congratulations! You have been selected to receive a

2011 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG)

Fellowship. Your application was selected by the DoD from over

2,900 submitted applications that were received this year. The

NDSEG Fellowship is sponsored and funded by the Department of

Defense (DoD). NDSEG selections are made by the Air Force

Research Laboratory/Air Force Office of Scientific Research

(AFRL/AFOSR), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the Army

Research Office (ARO), and the DoD High Performance Computing

Modernization Program Office (HPCMO). The American Society for

Engineering Education (ASEE) administers the NDSEG Fellowship.

The NDSEG Fellowship will cover your full tuition and required

fees for three years at any accredited U.S. college or university

that provides advanced degrees in science and engineering. In

addition, the NDSEG Fellowship will provide you with a yearly

stipend divided into twelve monthly payments. The first year's

stipend will be $30,500.00 divided into monthly payments of

$2,541.67; the second year's stipend will be $31,000.00

(monthly payments of $2,583.33); and the third year's stipend

will be $31,500.00 (monthly payments of $2,625.00). The offer of

the NDSEG Fellowship is conditional based upon the availability

of funds and the fellow's satisfactory progress towards an

advanced degree in science or engineering.

You have until Tuesday April 26, 2011 to accept or decline the

NDSEG Fellowship offer. In order to respond, please visit the

NDSEG award site at http://ndseg.asee.org/award and login using

    your NDSEG application email/password.

This is a very prestigious fellowship and we hope you will accept

the offer. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact

ASEE at (202) 649-3831 or by email at NDSEG@asee.org. We will

    be happy to assist you.

    Congratulations once again!

Well, if this is the same thing all the winners got looks like we might have to wait until next Wednesday at the EARLIEST! Yuck

  2. So...does this mean we're alternates?

Do they formally send alternate notifications, or just wait for others to turn down and then send acceptances?

    Either way...the wait continues!!

In previous years they have sent official alternate notifications. I asked in an earlier post if anyone had received an alternate designation, but no response yet.

I think maybe we are alternates, although crimsonengineer87 made a good point that perhaps a funding agency or two has been late to declare their awards.

  3. Thanks for that, TheNeurotic. Did you contact them directly to get that email response, or did they just send it to you? I haven't heard anything. So, still could be good or bad. Frustrating!

I emailed them Monday morning and they gave me that response. They actually responded fairly quickly, although not that informative.

I also know someone who called them Monday and got the same reply as everyone else, "All notices sent out today". Calling doesn't seem to provide very accurate information.

  4. This is the email I got Monday, I think someone else posted a similar on as well.

The first wave of award notifications have been issued, however, we are still in the process of administering the complete list of awards this time.

  5. tried logging into "awards" page and got:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The change you wanted was rejected.

Maybe you tried to change something you didn't have access to.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is different than before anyways

  6. Hi, I've been watching for a few days as well, and am also likely awaiting a rejection letter. I sent an e-mail on Friday asking if they were sending out rejection notices as well as award notifications-I was trying to find out if I should stop waiting. I received a response this morning.

"The first wave of award notifications have been issued, however, we are still in the process of administering the complete list of awards this time."

Hope that helps. Looks like there's still hope!

My apologies fortytwo. Congratulations to you and the other winners.
