  1. Does anyone have any specific experience and/or thoughts about the MA Democracy & Governance program at Georgetown? I just received an acceptance letter from them (no word about funding yet) and am trying to determine how they stack up with other places I've been accepted to.
  2. Does anyone have any advice regarding negotiating for funding/assistance with departments to which you've received an acceptance? In a nutshell, I've been accepted to an MA program, but was not extended an offer for a fellowship or any other sort of financial assistance. I could potentially make this work without taking any loans or anything, provided that the department give me a break and allow me to at least pay in-state tuition. I'm not sure how to bring the topic up however. Any thoughts?
  3. Hmm, apparently funding decisions have already been made. If your letter didn't include the info, it's cause you didn't get any. Oh well, no MU for me.
  4. Hey, me too! I wrote to the Grad Assistant to ask when they'll know about funding. What's your sub-area? Edit: Nevermind, I just answered my own question.
  5. Just out of curiousity, how did you find out? I've been told "unofficially" that I'm probably on the waitlist by a current grad student in the department, but have yet to hear anything official. Did you find out online through the application system? Email?
  6. So, I just heard from a friend who's a current grad student at Northwestern. Apparently they've decided on their first round, and are waiting to hear back from them before going to their waitlist or sending out any definative rejections. It could be weeks before the process is finished depending on how many in their first round take the offer.
  7. Waiting for Northwestern seems to be a common thread on this board. Besides a few early acceptances and rejections there seems to be no news from them.
  8. Yeah, at this point I'm assuming the news from Northwestern is bad as well. It's hard to be sure though since their Web site tells applicants not to expect decisions till early March. I don't really understand what the hold-up is with letting people know they're rejected. Isn't the whole point of an online application system to "facilitate communication?"
  9. So has anyone heard anything from Northwestern? It seems like there's still a lot of people who haven't gotten word from them one way or another.
  10. I'm applying in IR, not theory.
  11. Yeah, Northwestern is my top choice too. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us. Gah! My stomach is killing me.
  12. I'm waiting on Northwestern too. Any idea if this is good news or bad news (for those of us who's application status hasn't changed in their system)?
