Just to remind people there is a fb page for Fulbrighters going to Germany! Here is the link, I'd love to have more than myself in the group
https://www.facebook...50643965068858/
Are you an ETA? There's already a pretty active Facebook group out there!

I know what you mean...I haven't heard anything else either! Sometimes I wonder if my application got lost in the mail....nooooo
But we have to wait it out, fellow Austria USTA applicants! Glad to know I'm not alone in the nervous waiting...though to be honest, i was pretty easy going about all of this until I found this board! Then the nervous jitters passed on down to me haha
Did you get the confirmation e-mail from them a while ago? If you did, then no need to worry about it being lost in the mail!

Even though Poland is in no way relevant to my studies (Middle Eastern politics), I'm super jealous of everyone getting grants there. My dad's family is from Poland (and all but my dad and grandmother still live there). And I'm too poor to have ever gone and I JUST WANT TO GO! Somebody take me with youuuuu! haha. I'm trying super hard to save up to maybe go this summer (I'm counting on getting a little bit of money for graduation... please???). Sorry for this spastic, completely irrelevant post.
I'm also jealous! But I spent a summer there a few years go. It's an absolutely beautiful and charming country. Definitely one of Europe's best kept secrets haha.

BUT I DON'T WANT TO SHARE THE RESULTS WITH SOMEBODY WHO IS NOT MY DOCTOR. Why is that so difficult to understand?
I agree, they are asking a lot. But, they are also giving you 800 Euros a month, so they have a right to ask for any information they see pertinent. There are certain positions and jobs in life where you'll have to disclose uncomfortable things in order to reap the benefits.

If you go to Germany, have a Beck's beer for me! Also, is that Liz Lemon in your photo?
If by Liz Lemon you mean a fictional character who just so happens to mimic my personality to a T, then yes.

SLP33 has excellent advice. See what you can do! That Fulbright can only help your application the next time around. I spent some time abroad teaching and it really has informed my SLP perspective. Congrats on getting that! Where are you going to be teaching?
Thanks for the thoughts, everyone! I'll talk to my program next week and gather their thoughts on it. But if I do go with the Fulbright, I'd be teaching in Germany.

Well, I need some advice. This morning I was accepted to teach English abroad next year through the Fulbright program. I've also been accepted to my top choice school, where their website says they do not allow deferrals. Definitely did not expect both to happen.
Anybody have any guidance, thoughts, wisdom, 2 cents, etc, etc?

Do you guys have any thoughts about visiting schools that you have been waitlisted to? I'm kind of toying with the idea, partly so that I will be ready to accept quickly if I do manage to get off the waitlist, and partly in the hopes that it will help my chances by showing that I really have interest in the school. But I'm not sure...I could see that maybe it could help me, because like I said it would show my interest. But I can also imagine that they would see through whyI was visiting and they might be annoyed that I was taking up their time. Or otherwise it wouldn't be positive or negative...and it just wouldn't do anything at all to help me, and I would end up wasting time and money when I don't get off the waitlist.
Opinions?
You might e-mail and try and find out if they can give you a relative position on the wait list. I know one school that wait listed me said if I get in, I'll have 48 hours to decide. If that's the case across the board, it would probably be wise to visit before you find out, just in case.

Here's a question:
What do you do if you are accepted to multiple schools and on the wait-list for funding at them? Can you "accept" to both schools and then see if you get funding? I'm just confused as to what to do if they don't tell you until after April 15th if you got an assistant-ship, but you're supposed to let schools know by then. Any thoughts?
Hmm, that's tough. I suppose theoretically you can accept to more than one school. But obviously you'll have to awkwardly deny one at a later date. And there's always the risk that you could end up getting funding at both or at neither. I'd say really take a look at what you're considering and contemplate if you would be ok going to one without funding? What schools are you deciding between? You have a lot of great options!

Anybody know if Washington's program starts at the earlier September date or later?
-
I'm completely baffled by how schools decide to accept/reject/wait list people. How can I one week be accepted to a top school and the next wait listed by a virtually un-ranked safety. And on top of that, inconsistencies between being accepted/rejected from similar programs.
Just makes me wonder and doubt the well-ranked programs that accepted me. Anyone have any insight?

US News World & Report posted its 2013 rankings today. While we all know these should be taken with a grain of salt, I thought it was interesting to see the changes.
But still a little gratifying to see the schools that rejected you drop a few spots

Has anybody who was accepted to UW's Core program heard about scholarships/funding?
-
This has been a really weird experience. My dad has warned me that graduate school really boils down to luck and randomness...and I think so. Rejected from low ranked schools, accepted from high ranked ones, and decisions for people on here...it would be cool if we could all connect in 3-5 years and see if all our worrying and freaking out was worth it haha.

Anybody know if Washington has an open house?
-
So excited about Washington! Got into the Med-SLP program, but I haven't received any email yet and my supplemental application page hasn't changed, only my main UW Grad School app page. Anyone else the same or has everyone who got in received an email? Also has anyone heard about funding yet?
I was accepted to Core and I haven't received an e-mail yet.
-
I hope everyones waiting pays off!
For Washington - has anyone received an e-mail yet. Or just website responses?
-
I guess we're never safe! After like 5pm I've accepted I won't hear anything that day...but now! Ah!!!

Hello everyone, for anyone waiting for news on Purdue, I received a phone call tonight telling me that I was accepted into the program (!!!) and that I will be receiving an email in about a week more with information. I'm guessing it will be another week before they release all of their decisions as I doubt they will call every applicant.
Congrats! Do you mind sharing when they called? And maybe the first letter of your last name haha?

hey everyone! i'll be in town this weekend for an open house and i live far enough away to warrant a hotel. any suggestions of one on campus/walking distance so i can explore the area without having to drive? thanks!

it's such a beautiful day where i am today...it would be nice to hear back and have the weather to help console me/celebrate! bah!

Anyone else planning on going to the open house at Illinois this weekend?

So-what's the final consensus on Wisconsin-Madison? Are they done sending letters? I haven't heard anything (not a peep) but I have cruised around on the My UW portal and tried to figure out if I get shut out of anything or if I can gain access to anything unusual. Seems like I can do everything (even pick classes) however, this may be for everyone that has this My UW. My app still says pending. This is driving me nuts.
My freaking mental health is going down the drain...Anyone else feel like this?
I'd like to send a Congrats out to all of you that have gotten accepted to a program though! It's so exciting that you guys are hearing!
They finished sending letters at the end of last week...good luck!

E-mailed what? I thought they went out USPS? I haven't gotten anything-postal mail or email. What now?
Sorry, I meant I asked her a question via e-mail. I received my letter today in the mail. I'm in Madison though, so mine probably came quicker because of that.

Anyone receive scholarship information from Washington? Or know when to expect it (if we're lucky enough to be one of them)?
