I applied to a Ph.D. program at the University of Alabama. I received a letter saying I had been accepted for post-Master's work, but that it was not acceptance into the doctoral program. Apparently, I would have to go through a screening process for that. However, when I e-mailed to find out when the screening would be, I was told that the screening interview will be in February of 2012! I assumed they'd be within the next month and I would know for certain my acceptance into the Ph.D. program before I quit my job, moved several hundred miles, etc. Have any of you been through an experience like this? Any advice?
