I haven't heard anything back yet but I will post whatever results I get when I get them!

I'm with ya Dancer. My proposal was for Georgia but if I don't get the fellowship then I will instead go to Mexico to brush up on my Spanish as I live in California so it is more of an immediate need. That being said, I will write another proposal as well if I don't get it this time and will pick another country as well. I am thinking Vietnam or Slovenia for Round 2. However, I hope there is no need for a Round 2!!!! lol What country did you choose and if you write another proposal, will you choose the same country again?

Are you applying to Boren to study Amharic?

hahaha I do the same thing! I thought I received an email from Boren but when I checked it was from Amazon.com so I got mad and unsubscribed from their mailing list..........and I love amazon.com so this Boren nonsense is changing my personality and making me evil! hahaha This is awful! It's like waiting up the night before Christmas only Christmas isn't coming and you are awake and waiting, and waiting, ugh. I can think of a million other ways of torturing a human that are far more humane than waiting for this darn announcement! lol

Man, is time standing still in any other states outside of California?! lol Ugh, talk about suspense. I'm surprised I haven't received a letter from Comcast telling me stop stop refreshing my inbox because nothing is there, lol. So, does anyone have any backup study abroad plans in case this doesn't work in your favor? If I don't receive a fellowship I will still go abroad but only for a few months of language study.

I was talking to two students at my school who said they'd received a survey to take from Boren (Fellow applicants) via email. Do you have any info on this??

Hey all, great board! It's nice to have a place we can all go crazy on in anticipation of hearing the Boren results! Just an FYI, I attended the webinar and Michael explicitly stated that you will only be contacted by Boren in regards to your budget if there is an issue with it. He stated that if there are errors in your budget or something doesn't look right (i.e. underfunded) they would contact you to revise it. After this he stated that underfunding your project will not make you a more competitive candidate. So we can sit here all day and speculate as to what the emails mean but in reality we have no idea and should only be basing these on facts and not opinions. Lastly, I emailed them and they said award recipients would be notified during the last week of April, first week of May. Not to forget, they had extended the submission deadline in case you had missed that on their website, I thought perhaps this was due to the snow storms in the mid-west which resulted in power outages and possibly appilcants not being able to apply in a timely manner. So, naturally one would assume this would also extend the results notifications as well. I guess we shall see! Good luck to everyone and I wish you the best in your academic pursuits!
