Have you thought about volunteering at a college access organization in the evenings or on the weekend? I imagine non-profit volunteering would be helpful if you are unable to get direct experience within the college.

I work in admissions currently. My best advice would be to try to get an entry-level admissions counselor/officer job. That will be the best experiential education at this point. I considered going to grad school in higher ed right after college, but ultimately started working. Right now (3 years in admissions), I am considering doing grad school and feel like I will get so much more out of it with 3 years under my belt.
