I applied to Nuc E programs. I was a little surprised by just how few people on this forum applied to Nuclear Eng. I applied to OSU, UW-Madison, Berkeley and MIT. I haven't heard back from Berkeley, but I got into the other 3 (PhD OSU and Wisc, SM MIT), all with funding. I will be going to the OSU open house tomorrow and Wisconsin next week. I've been talking to some of the Wisconsin profs but 2 of them already told me they aren't looking for grad students next year, and one was rather short in his replies. Not exactly the most welcoming, or promising introduction to a program. They are certainly dropping rather quickly on my list, despite being the #2 Nuc E school.

Purdue has a good nuclear program. I was looking at it myself, but decided it wasn't what I wanted. It's not a top 10 school if that's what you're asking, but you will certainly get a good education there.

What department were they applying to?

Sorta wondering the same thing myself. I've heard back from two schools so far, and one of them got back to me within three weeks! I'm still waiting on MIT and Berkeley though. Anyone have any experience as to how long it took to get decisions from past years?

My work with graphene will be my senior thesis, it may result in a publication. I presented my work from General Atomics at an APS conference. My name will be/is on a couple of papers. Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's List almost every semester, merit schoolarship from school. Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Graded for 3 semesters for intro physics classes.
