  1. hey Finest Engineering, i don;t know which engineering you are in, but i was sort of in the same situation so i wanted to ask what you think.. Right now i have two acceptances to serious consider: a fully funded PhD at Cornell, and nothing funded MS at Stanford, both mechanical engineering. What's your two cents on which choice is a better one? Just your opinion..
  2. hey, I just came back from Cornell this past weekend, and I can tell you that MEng is considered a terminal degree, so you won't be able to continue to PhD after MS.. unless you plan to switch over to MS somehow. And the thing is, Cornell didn't have an option for MS. (at least, for ME. I don't know about EE.) So it was either go for a PhD, or M.Eng.
  3. oh that's good for you. You'll have fun, for sure im still contemplating whether i should go to for the Stanford visit day... the plane alone would cost $350 or so, not to mention the hotel and all.. The Stanford mechanical engineering website doesn't contain a lot of information regarding graduate programs, so i'm thinking the visit is essential.
  4. do you get reimbursed for your trip??
  5. don't give up, it's still early March. Anyone planning to attend the visiting Monday this month at Stanford?
  6. thanks for your valuable input! first of all, i applied for masters at all of my schools, including Cornell. They apparently got rid of the option to just go for MS in mechanical engineering, so now it's either M.Eng or PhD. I was also informed (by a fellow applicant, not 100% reliable) that if I want to just drop out after getting my masters, it would take something like three years. Not to mention the adviser will probably hate me for it.. Because of the full funding part, I'm so torn apart.. I've always wanted to work in industry rather than work as a researcher, but my options are differ too much on costs
  7. wow fenguin, your stats are ridiculous. (42 on MCAT???) congratulations on your achievements, and hope you find a good program!
  8. i applied for pure mech MS. Right now, I have an offer to work on PhD with full funding (tuition + stipend) at Cornell... Which one would be a better choice? I've always wanted to do masters, but the full funding is , well, a considerable factor
  9. just got an acceptance from Stanford! But no funding.. Even the official campus visit is not reimbursed
  10. congratulations! hopefully i'll hear from some other schools in the near future, too... so they sent out the email on Sunday?
  11. thank you for the information via email, bone.
  12. How come there are so many EE topics but only one ME!! Where are our ME people! i got accepted into Georgia Tech, but as far as i remember, they told me the financial information will be available to me around April. Somehow i've seen some applicants on this forum that has Georgia Tech accepted, but no funding... How's this possible? anyone know?
