I am a Classics grad student considering switching to a Linguistics graduate program after this coming year (will have a Classics MA in hand if so). There is still a LOT of research left to be done/ decisions to be made, but assuming I decide to pursue this path can anyone suggest any type of Post-Bac program or series of classes to set me up for an attractive application- or is this not necessary? I have no formal training in Linguistics aside from what I have gained along the way in my many years of Latin and Greek. If I had to guess my interests would be in socio- and historical linguistics. There are several stand-alone Classics post-bac's, but I don't know if it is as formal a program in Linguistics or what it entails. I've heard of LSA's summer institute, but understand that this summer (2012) will be the off year.
Thoughts? Thank you!
