  1. Has anybody heard from them? I've sent approximately 6-8 emails and I've been calling them for days to check for admission status. Absolutely no response whatsoever. Anybody experience similar issues with georgia tech?
  2. It's not a two year MSc or is it? I thought it was 3 semesters?
  3. Could anybody simply talk about the comparison in the following areas - 1. Research 2. Course Specification 3. Employment Opportunities 4. Collaboration with other security depts include NSA/FBI, etc. Thank you
  4. I've made it to MS Security Informatics by request. As far as I understand, it wasn't a straightforward transfer as there were two different admission committees addressing applications. Thanks anyway. Regards
  5. Hi all, This fall, I'll be starting my masters program in Information Security. I currently have admission from a number of universities in Computer Science and in Information Security. Would anyone like to comment how profound is the research and innovation at the following universities? Could you compare the universities below? CMU INI (rejected) JHU ISI Columbia ETH Zurich Georgia Tech (decision awaited) Moreover, if you wish to add any other leading universities to the list? Thank you Kind regards
  6. Given that I've other offers in the US and Europe, I don't wish to jeopardise my place if I go to Johns Hopkins and am unable to get Information Security. I just hope I'm not repeating myself or pestering with same questions; would anyone advice for or against talking to the university prior to accepting their offer? Thanks
  7. I intend to talk to the computer science but I was wondering if it could've any negative impact on my application or admission.
  8. Hello people, I made the first round of admissions @Johns Hopkins for a graduate program (M.Sc.) in the Computer Science dept. I'm very interested to pursue the course but there's one complication. I wanted to do a specific majors in the field of Information Security which would suggest me applying to the M.Sc. Security Informatics program at Information Security Institute @Johns Hopkins University which I obviously didn't. I'm highly motivated towards Information Security and the intention was well laid out in the Statement of Purpose. Now that I have the confirmation from the university for M.Sc. Computer Science, would it be fair or right to talk to the university about transferring my application to the Information Security Institute for M.Sc. Security Informatics? Thank you for your help. Kind regards
  9. Any advice or suggestions, people?
  10. Thanks for the reply. I recently finished my industrial placement (1 year) with Texas Instruments, UK where I worked in the R&D for about 7 months. It was mostly VLSI and FPGA design rather than something in Computer Security. My final year project is totally research based and I have a recommendation from my supervisor supervising this research project. I am not very sure about percentiles as the score is not out yet. But I scored about 146 in Verbal which would be ~40%. In contrast to that I scored an 8 overall in IELTS, approx 3 years back.
  11. Guys, anything?
  12. Hey guys. I have kind of messed up my entire GRE score due to poor preparation (ongoing projects) and time management before and during the exam. My scores are: Q: 166 V: 146 (Pathetic) By bachelors is from School of EEE, University of Manchester in 'Computing and Communication Systems Engineering'. I haven't converted my results to GPA yet, but I believe it's > 3.9; maybe 4.0. I have almost 1.5 years of industry experience and 2 university scholarships + 1 state scholarship (New Delhi), some 6 years back. My final project is a research project in the field of Green Heterogeneous Networks. I am here counting my chances for M.Sc or Ph.D from top universities in the US. (Stanford/Cornell/CMU/Texas-Austin/UIUC/Gatech) I did take an IELTS in Jun '08 scoring an overall band of 8.0. What do you guys think my chances are? Any suggestions or advice? EDIT: I believe my 3 recommendations are pretty strong. One of them is by the head of the school; I don't know how crucial could that be.
