  1. Title says it all, I posted in the digital forum, but I'm not sure that would be the best place. I looking for a program that gives me the skills to teach elementary age students the traditional art skills while being realistic about the hold computers and related technology have on young kids. For example, having the students due a series of traditional figures in motion, in charcoal and then animating that same series. Clemson has a MFA in Digital Production Art that is very close, but they want their artist to have programming skills and their programmers to have art skills. While, unlike most of my studio art friends, I did choose programming classes to fufill my computer class requirements, I do not think my skills are at the level they are looking for. University of Texas has an Art and Technology that would work Uiversity of Denver has MFA in Emergent Digital Practices that's pretty close, but they are very expensive and I not getting the vibe that their funding is that great, so they're out. I swear I saw information at one time on an Art and Science or Art and Engineering program, but if I did, I can't find it again. The other New Media or Emerging Media programs I've seen are 96% computer based art and I don't want that. Any ideas, or I am chasing something that does not exist? Thanks
  2. Don't know if this post works better here or the visual arts forum, but is anyone aware of any MFA programs that provide a true mix of both studio art and the newer digital/computer/new media areas. UT has a MFA in art and techonoly. Clemson offers an MFA in DIgital Production Art, but they want their artists to have programming skills and their programmers to have art skills. I hold a BFA, and unlike a lot of my art major friends, I did take programming classes to fufill my computer class requirements, so I have some programming knowledge but it's very limited and I can't meet their prereqs for the programming. University of Denver has a MFA in Emergent Digital Practices and I thought at one time I saw some information about a MFA in Art and Science or Art and Engineering, but I can't seem to find that again. The other programs I've looked at that are called New Media, or Emerging Media seem to be 96% computer based art and I don't want that. What I'm envisioning for the future is starting my own preschool with after school/summer programs for older kids that truly melds the arts with technology. I want my students to take the traditional skills that every artist needs and blend them with the technolgy. For example; doing the traditional figure movement studies in charcoal and then animating that series of figures. Anyone have any suggestions for a program that works along those lines at the graduate level?
  3. I am attempting to help my daughter with her portfolio. Her undergrad BFA was in Printmaking. She took a summer course in which the final object was to produce a book. She wrote an original story, did simple wood prints to illustrate it, scanned the prints in, had the pages printed by the university print shop, then hand bound the book and produced a cover an end pages for it. Does anyone have any ideas how to represent that in a portfolio. I considered using the book itself as the image and then a couple of the pages as the detail that's allowed for a couple of the items. It's a children's ABC type book, so it's not like it's a novel, but I think the whole thing would be too much. We can't find any information on this topic, so thought I'd see what the opinions are here. Thanks in advance.
  4. I'm considering applying to this program for fall 2012. Care to share any tips or thoughts on what was strong about your application? Thanks
